    Default GA-P34-DS4 Rev 2.0 Multithreading

I just updated my BIOS from F7 to F11. In F7 there was a setting called "CPU Hyper Threading". I had this disabled because my E6850 C2D does not support Hyper Threading.

In F11 the setting has changed to "CPU Multi Threading".

Which is the correct setting for "CPU Multi Threading" with the E6850 in Bios F11 - enabled or disabled?

Just checked with my E6750 on the same rev board F11 and i don't have that option at all.
Maybe i'm blind but where exactly is that option located?
Apart from the speed we have the same processor.
Did you 'clear DMI' and 'load optimized defaults' after flashing?

the setting is on the "Advanced BIOS Features" screen. If you don't see it then hit Ctrl+F1 from the main Bios screen. I did load optimized defaults but did not clear DMI - what does that do?

more info: speedfan shows both cores in the F7 Bios with "Hyper Threading" turned off. In F11 it shows only One core with "Multi Threading" turned off but both cores when enabled.

As stated before my CPU doesen't support Hyper threading so that is why I disabled it in F7. According to what I see in speedfan there is a definite difference between "Hyper" in F7 and "Multi" in F11.

Believe Hyper threading is just another name for Multi threading. See various discussions in Google

Doh you uncovered my nooblism, not sure what dmi exactly is, i only know it's standard procedure to 'flush' it, it will rebuild next boot.
(nvm that though since seemingly ctrl+f1 makes the difference and not a 'messy' bios).

If it doesn't mean the real Hyper-Threading, i'd say turn it on since it could mean to utilize both cores or affect the way they play together.
(jeez, got to read a little in to that)
(now let's press that F1 button)

    edit:
looked it up in my bios and i find it's pretty self-explanatory that you should have it on

thanks for the help. the bios does indeed explain the options but since it works different in F7 then in F11 I was unsure as to what was correct for the C2D.

thanks again to all who participated

Hehe, that has to be the first useful bios explanation ever, usually they are just repeating the name of the function.

Ok, two things - I have the DS4 Rev2.1 board and I cannot find any Hyper or Multi-Threading settings in my BIOS. I looked everywhere. Also, I just updated my BIOS ro ver F11, but in the POST screen it still shows F8. Isn't it suppose to change and show F11?

Then your bios did not flash properly, or you did not load optimized defaults.

    Try it again
