So....? That sounds like it will make the FSB slower but the CPU will run fine

I'd get a new board hearing that! Or Am I understanding at that wrong Janus?

Well, not the FSB. But the Hyper Transport bus, so the CPU's clock wont be changed.

@Janus: I understood that, however it seems that a lot of motherboard still don't support the Phenom. As in, they wont boot with it. Is there any way you can give me a confirmation? Or is there a BIOS update coming up?

Furthermore, will that lower HT link affect the performance of the machine? Or is the 5200MHz HT bus just something for the future?

That's cool, but it only shows me the recommended motherboard is the ASUS Crosshair (if you select the 590 chip). That doesn't quite help me.

Is there any way you (or me) can ask someone at Gigabyte (who has the power and knowledge to give that information) if there's the possibility to develop a BIOS update for my board?

I mean, if ASUS can do it then Gigabyte should be able to do so as well. Look at it as a form of customer support. It was a quite expensive board back then, one of Gigabyte's flagships for the AM2 socket. In my oppinion it should not be possible to support the Phenom on a lower-budget board (M57SLI-S4) with a cheaper chipset and not to do this for the M59SLI-S5.

    Thanks in advance.
