Default Q6600 CPU Upgrade on GA-P35-DS3P

Hi, I just upgraded the CPU on my GA-P35-DS3P from a E6550 to a Q6600 and I want to know if I need to reformat the harddrive. When I open easytune it shows original 2356.00 and current 1566.79? I've updated the bios to F10 and easytune and tried several bios settings but can't seem to get the current CPU performance to go higher than 15xx.xx. When I open easytune it shows 23xx.xx briefly but then goes to 15xx.xx. Is my motherboard fully supporting my new Q6600? Do I need to chance some settings? Do I need to reformat? Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    M

It's probably just speedstep running your CPU at 6X buss speed because the CPU has no load on it....run a CPU test and see if the speed goes up it should.

Yes, you must disable speedstep and TM2, EIST to always run at highest default clock.

Check out the pinned guide it will explain alot to you

The pinned guide Is the first post by me at the top of this section.

Those options are in Advanced Bios Features and M.I.T. sections of the BIOS, you will have to hit Control + F1 on the main page of the BIOS first then go into each section to see these. But you SHOULD read thru the guide first and decide as those are features to prolong your CPU and motherboard. And ONLY need to be turned off if you wish to overclock your System
