Are you sure your windows CD is bootable and burned slow and properly? Have you installed with this disk before?

The Windows CD is an official, legal copy, bought specifically for this machine.

I have the system running well now, but I can't use IDE. It seems that anything you plug into the IDE controller *must* be the boot device. My current setup (works for both WinXP and Ubuntu Linux) is to use a SATA CDROM and a SATA hard drive (or compact flash adapter).

My intended application was to use one compact flash adapter plugged directly into the IDE port and one SATA compact flash adapter in a PCI slot. I think the only way to do this is to install the OS using a SATA CF adapter, then move that CF to the IDE controller. But then there's no way to boot from CDROM, so if I ever have to do that I'll have to open the case and move the CF back to SATA.

In summary, whatever you plug into the IDE port becomes your only bootable device.

Hmm, well if it was me and I had the time to do it, I would RMA for sure if I could not use the board how I intended to when I bought it
