I saw it long before wolfdale was around. So it isnt just wolfdale related either. Are you a member at the first place you linked? Seemed one of those posters had said patch on the cd that came with their board. If so could you PM them and see if they will send you the patch?

I have yet to mess with S3 and my wolfdale, I suppose sometime this week I could re-enable it in vista and see how she is working nowadays

I'm not a member of that board. But looking in the Gigabyte CD, I found an S3 patch for XP. It's in \chipset\EnableUSBS3XP\

That's still not going to solve the cold boot problem though. Windows isn't the source of that problem. It's something to do with FSB.

Well I thought from reading that patch was to help with sleep/hibernate. But If there isnt one for vista I guess I cannot test it. I will see if my disk has the file you mentioned and if so, I will see if I can convert it to a vista useable driver and see if it helps

Cold boot, I have seen many people fix just by adding MCH and FSB voltages

I tried +.2v already and it still fails to cold boot past 367 FSB.

Two more people with the same problem:

Overclockers Forums - View Single Post - Gigabyte P35-DS3R....I love it

I did email Gigabyte about it, I'll let you know if they come up with a solution.

Yeah, tried that too. Also tried messing with the USB settings, EIST/C1E, and pretty much everything else in the BIOS. I don't have any USB drives or legacy devices attached, just an MS mouse and a PS/2 keyboard.

It seems like when it fails to boot it just needs the settings reloaded and saved again. Then it decides to boot normally without the need for any extreme voltages. I'm starting to think that maybe it's not the startup, but that it's not shutting down properly and messing something up? Also, it's not that I lose the settings, it just disables the CPU control and sets RAM back to Auto. The voltages and FSB setting are still listed as I had them.

What does S3 and cold boots have in common? Either the hardware is really not initializing, or the BIOS just thinks it isn't. I'd suspect my RAM or PSU, but people having these issues don't have matching hardware configs.
