    Is your NB too hot to touch after running memtest86+ for more them 10 minutes? Can you touch and hold it for more then 10 seconds?

    Also can you please post back to me your full settings you are using now, and what slots you have the ram in. If there is extra settings leave it out>>>

    slots used are: ddr2_2 & ddr2_4 (1 and 3 didn't work either earlier)
    NB too hot to touch for 10 seconds (even before memtest86 or at least 30 seconds in)

    Ok, first off if your NB is too hot to touch without running memtest even then you NEED a fan on it, or you need to remove it and redo the paste under there. There is usually too much, or too little paste with too much or too little coverage. I would suggest if you have some extra cash $20 to get a Extreme Spirit II NB heatsink. If you cannot touch it with or without running memtest for more then 10 sec, then it is way too hot.

    If you do not want to buy a new cooler, I would suggest you redo the paste with some NON conductive paste. If you do not want to do that, then I highly suggest you buy a 40mm fan and put on top of it

    just to make sure about the NB. I'm touching the NB cooling which is pretty hot . is there any sensor on it so i can check how how it is via software?

    how do I set all the values I change back to be Auto ?

    I'm just at the BIOS, the NB cooler is hot. and the PC-HEALTH have the "current system temp" at 52C even thou the case is open. (CPU temp is 37C)
    I don't think it was THAT hot before all the changes in the bios :/

    If you are overclocking you want to set those as I have them listed above, if not dont worry about them

    Yes easytune will show you NB temp, it will be called system or motherboard, Everest Ultimate will also show you

    To simply change ONLY the memory timings to AUTO all you need to do is set this to AUTO >>>>
    DRAM Timing Selectable ................: Manual

    The changes in your MCH will add some heat, but are needed so you need a fan or to do soem of what I suggested above

    I'm not overclocking at this point.
    all I wanted was for the memory to work at its reported timings... guess that's not that simple :)

    I'll try to set the DRAM timing to auto and see if it reduces heat

    changed everything to auto (including voltage)
    no change in temps

    at least it posts first time...

    is this a problem with the board? (heat and voltage issue?)

    Timings are not going to affect heat at all.

    No, not really voltages and such should always be set manually and that is not a issue. Auto is just for those who do not know or can not ask someone for help. And of course so that most boards will start with most all components.

    As for your NB yeah that is hot, but nothing a fan wont fix easily
