Default GA-P35-DS3L memory settings? (I just need a stable machine!)

    Hi,

I need to just get my bios setup right given my memory configuration. I have no idea how to set the latency timing in the BIOS, since it does not seem to give me an option in the M.I.T. page. I read through the P35 Overclockers Sticky on this forum and could not find the same settings in my BIOS.

(NOTE: I edited my previous post which had too much irrelevant information.)

    CURRENT SETUP:
    -----------------------------

    MOBO: GA-P35-DS3L
    CPU: Intel E6750 Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz
    Memory1: Corsair XMS2 Twin2x2048 6400C4 (4-4-4-12) (2 Sticks)
    Memory2: Corsair XMS2 Twin2x2048 6400C4 DHX (4-4-4-12) (2 Sticks)
    GPU: EVGA 8800GTS 512MB
    PSU: Coolmax CW-650T 650W
CPU Cooler: Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 Pro
Case: Raidmax Smilodon Extreme Black ATX-612WEB
HDD: Some older Maxtor SATA 120GB
Ext. HDD1: Western Digital 500GB USB 2.0 (always connected)
    Ext. HDD2: Seagate Freeagent Go 160GB USB 2.0 (USB-powered)

    OS: Windows XP SP3
    Firewall: ZoneAlarm 6.1.744.000

    BIOS: 03/27/2008-P35-ICH9-6A79OG0TC-00

In the Main BIOS screen press CTRL+F1 to unlock the extra options in M.I.T and other menu's. You should find the RAM timings and be able to set the 4 timings there.

Do you have to hold your mouth a certain way when pressing the CTRL+F1 at the BIOS Main menu ?

I have an EP35-DS3R with BIOS F2 and no matter how many times I press CTRL+F1 (simultaneously) at the BIOS Main menu I see the menu flash/flicker, but never see any change in the items in the MIT menu.

No need to press CTLR+F1 to access all settings anymore, GA changed it.

    You need to set:

    CPU Clock Ratio ____________ 8x
CPU Host Clock Control ____________ ENABLED
    ## x CPU Host Frequency (Mhz) ____________ 333
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) ____________ 100

    (DDR3 Overvoltage Control ____________ NORMAL --- DDR3??? You have DDR2)

DDR2 Overvoltage Control ____________ +0.3 <------ Your Corsairs needs 2.1V to run at specified speeds.

Performance Enhance ____________ Turbo --- Set to STANDARD

System Memory Multiplier (SPD) ____________ Auto - Need to be MANUAL, otherwise u cant set the timings manual.

    CAS Latency Time________________ 4
    Dram RAS# to CAS# Delay_________ 4
    Dram RAS# Precharge Delay_______4
    Precharge Delay (tRAS)__________ 12

For NO overclocking u can likely leave the rest of the timings on AUTO

(G)MCH Overvoltage Control ____________ NORMAL --- set to +0.1 - four sticks (populating all four slots likely to need more volts)

Hmmm, for my P31-DS3L with the latest BIOS I still have to use the CTRL+F1. Maybe they've just changed it on your model boards?

Change your "Performance Enhance" to standard.

Awesome! The CTRL+F1 was what I needed. And thanks for listing the CMOS settings. I really appreciate it!

    And you're right, I do have DDR2. I mistyped "DDR3".

Set RAM voltage to +.1v or +.2v.

Ctrl +F1 is removed only in newer P35 BIOS's. So if you still have to use it, then you dont have a new BIOS or your board still needs to use it, Like P31's I believe still do since they are the cheap boards GA likely did not remove this option

As for the OP, looks like you have 2x2gb Best to manually set Refresh to act to 52-62, and as said above +.1-.2 MCH depending on how much ram you have
