    Yes, CPU is at stock.

    Shouldn't be a failing dimm as they are all brand new...

    Will try upping the MCH voltage and see how it goes - if that fails I guess I'm stuck with only 4GB???

    Right, well I tried upping the MCH voltage - still not stable.
    I also tried lowering the RAM speed to 1066 (what the BIOS suggests it should be) but this is making it even less stable - I really don't understand that part!!!!!

    Ran with all sorts of timings, right up to the maximum settings on some of them and it seems to make no difference.

    Well brand new means nothing, please test them one by one. Faulty modules get shipped out each day from any manufacturer

    Well 8GB may have a rough time even at 1066, can you try 800-1000 just to see how that acts.

    Yes, you may be stuck with 4GB, unless you can get them stable at 800-1000. Could just be that the board does not like 8GB of this particular brand or model.
