    LSD,

Thanks, but actually the problem was the power to the cpu had become unplugged. However, I did note something else when removing the memory. The sticks said 5 5 5 @ 2.2v. I thought it was 2.1

Should I set the dram voltage to equal the labels on the sticks (i.e. 2.2)?

Thanks, now if only you worked for AMD to fix the HD4870 driver problems, lol

Ahh! The smallest things always happen when you are not looking!

Be careful with things like that you can cause a jump/short with a partially plugged in device. So make sure things are plugged in nice and tight

2.1 may work, and would be better. You will just have to test and see. It will depend on all other settings as well though. Meaning if they are set tight or low MCH voltage you may need more DDR voltage, and same goes for the opposite. Higher/Looser timings/speed and more MCH voltages could mean lower DDR voltages. Best to find a middle ground there

2.1 is best and 2.2 is normally not needed, I advise always to have a Fan on any ram that is using 2.2

2.2 is just the max warrantied. Some chips need the spec voltage to run stable, other better ones run with less

    LSDMeap,

Thanks for all of your help. System seems stable now (Except fo HD4870 8.8 Driver!). I even dropped DRAM voltage to auto. it is still working fine. I will let you know if I decide to drop MCH from 1.3 to auto, or 1.1.

    Nice to hear it!

YA, GFX drivers always have issues! Have you tried older ones? You can get them all from here if you do not have very many of the older ones >>>

    Lsd,

Well, I set the following to auto:

    DRAM Voltage [Auto]
    MCH Core [Auto]
    PCI Express Frequency [Auto]

I don't seem to have any boot up problems. The only (non graphic) problem I seem to have is that my internet browser will lock up and freeze the whole system.

Is this what you meant by not being stable?

    Thanks

Yeah, IE will do that. I suggest firefox.

No, by stable I meant Memtest86+ and Orthos stable. Without those programs testing to be stable then you will likely always have issues, BSOD's, Freezes often.

Please read the Guide about overclocking for links to those programs

MCH Core needs to be manually set to be stable with 2x2GB, for sure

And PCI Express.... You should just lock it at 100. That is the default, at stock. But it is good to lock it at 100 now so you get used to seeing it set that way. Because if you ever decide to overclock down the road and forget to lock it to 100, it will be overclocked along with your FSB and your disk will corrupt and you will loose all your data.

Ram Voltage AUTO is also not likely to be fully stable with 2x2GB, Should be manually set as well

AUTO is for those who do not know, cannot ask, and for most any hardware to work long enough for the user to get into the BIOS to make changes.

It is definitely not for 24/7 with 2x2GB of ram

    LSD,

    Thanks again.

I made the changes you recommended- System seems fine now.

So, I am down to the last three items:

    Current Settings:
    CIA2= Disabled
    Performance Enhancxe=Turbo
    Extreme Memory Profile XMP=Turbo

Should I change any of the settings?

    I was thinking about making CIA2 =Sports

    Thanks

Well My suggestions are mostly NO Auto settings. So I cannot advise on the above really other then this >>>
    CIA2= Disabled
    Performance Enhance=Standard
    Extreme Memory Profile XMP=Disabled

With all the rest manually set. Do you need my suggested full set of timings for your board and ram? Or do you just plan to keep things in Auto?

    LSD,

I would lik eyour recommened timings. I have been working on the following (my changes are bolded in red):

Sorry, but I see nothing in RED. Please just post them here on the board, with ONLY your settings leave the rest out and that will be MUCH clearer.

I would make suggestions, but it looks like ALL AUTO to me, so I am not sure until you post back

AND you left out this WHOLE section in your txt file>>>

Is this stable for you and you just want some fine tunning or what? If so PLEASE fill this out and copy paste back onto the board >>>>
