    Thanks. I am just trying to get stable. Here is my main problem- My system will freeze occasionaly-always when gaming, sometime on IE. I think it may be HD4870, but want to test mobo & memory first.

    Now, here is where it gets tricky. I ran memtest86+2.01 and received these errors:

    Do I have bad memory, or bad settings causing errors?

    That's what I am trying to figure out before I can be sure it is the HD4870.

    Ya, bad setting for sure can cause errors, and AUTO for ram timings with 2x2GB is likely what is giving you errors. Which is bad settings.

    And if you have not already, PLEASE test each one of your ram sticks ONE AT A TIME in slot one. At stock timing, speed, and spec voltages to be SURE you do not have a dead stick in there somewhere before you start testing them all together. If you do not do this, then you will never know and one stick could be dying or dead and cause you all these issues

    For 2x2GB @ 1066 and Q9450 at stock I would suggest these setting ranges. You WILL have to disable some of those Advanced Settings at the Bottom should you ever decide to overclock. Those would be the ones I always have disabled in the templates I post

    Disable the above you have enabled to overclock, otherwise speedstep will always clock down your CPU multiplier and voltage. Which it IS doing now, which may also be making your system mess up

    My guess is that disabling one of those last items stopped my HD4870 from freezing!!!!

    p.s. If I ever do decide to add more ram (i.e. from 4MB to 8), will I need to change timings

    One of those settings being Enabled does NOT play well with the HD4870!!-When I disabled (three at once) Everything (memory, HD4870) runs smooth as silk now.

    LSD,

    I was going to modify my settings with 8GB of RAM (2 Sets of OCZ2P10664GK) with GA-EP45-DS3R based on the settings above until I read your last post. I have an E8500; no overclocking.

    What do you suggest I set my BIOS to?

    Please make a thread so I can keep your system and his settings and my brain all on the same page. Post your full specs and what you want to run in a new thread please

    I just ask because I do not want to confuse you with the OP's system in a page or two as I answer many posts daily.

    General answer until you make a thread would be you need to set MCH to 1.2-1.35 and use 400 MCH latch, High Static tread and 58-80 tRFC and of course manually set you ram voltage. Hope that helps a bit, if not please do make a new thread and I can better help you along
