    Well I have updated my Bios to the latest F5 (GA-EP45C-DS3R) and so far so good no BSOD after S3 resume, will do some more testing to hopefully be 100% sure, big thanks to Lsdmeasap for your input, much appreiacted.

    Hello everybody,

    and thanks for this thread which already helped me a lot (voltage settings).

    Unfortunately, I still have the same problem (Vista 64, SP2 beta, Intel E8500), even after upgrading to BIOS F10 on my EP45-DS3R (yes, I already reset my CMOS as well).

    My question: can anybody confirm this problem is related to a RAM setup of 2 pieces of 2 GB each (GEIL 4-4-4-12)?

    Will my PC be fine when I buy another additional RAM KIT (i.e. 2 pieces of 1 GB each) so that all 4 slots are occupied?

    I really would like to use S3 (and even EIST and Dynamic Energy Saving) ...

    Did you load optimized defaults and save/apply/reboot after you flashed? If not then you MUST do this after all flashes.

    It is not specifically ram related, but overall all settings must be 100% stable. Have you tested for stability with Memtest86+ and prime or orthos? If so, for how long

    6GB would be harder to get stable then 4, so if you are having issues now and you need S3 that bad wait until you can get 4Gb stable

    Are you overclocked at all? Please link me to your ram or give me the Model #

    Hi, all. This is my first post here. I've been searching for a new motherboard, as I'm building a new system to replace my current setup, and I thought I had decided on the EP45-UD3P based on all the great reviews I've read about it, and the price. But now that I've been reading about this S3 standby issue, I'm scared to get this board. I'm not an expert by any means, and I could do without having a problem like this on a brand new board.

    Can anybody tell me if this board/series of boards by Gigabyte has this S3 problem with XP, or is it only with users of Vista? I will be using XP only, and alot of the comments I've been reading on this and other forums mentions Vista. Forgive me if this has already been asked. I will be doing some overclocking, but not too extreme (quad core q6600 to maybe around 3.5gz). But I currently use standby mode all the time with my current XP setup, and don't want to lose that feature. Can anybody confirm that this does/doesn't happen with XP?

    By the way, I'll be using 2x1GB sticks of ram, don't know if that makes a difference, but some people have mentioned the problem with 2x2GB ram. Thanks in advance.

    Maybe I was unlucky with my G0 Q6600 but if you consider 3.5GHz not very extreme you are doing great. I can't get anything on 9X multi to post above 380MHz FSB and 8X multi takes retarded voltage to get above 400MHz FSB - well it will go alittle above that with minimal bumps but not enough to be worth the weird timings for RAM etc.

    I don't know about your cooling setup tho, maybe you're on water?

    Anyway... I'm away from my machine right now, but I've got the reboot loop on Vista64 too... have to check my settings before I post here with the bios info for LSD - however, I wanted to say 'HI' and 'TY' for having a thread that tells me I'm not the only one with this frustrating problem.

    My S3 sleep solution - it might help someone else! I had been living with a S3 sleep problem since I bought my ep45-ds3r about 5 months ago. I installed f10 bios but it made no difference. With recent very hot weather down here and no aircon, I decided to keep my room cooler by reducing the overclock a bit so that I could use stock CPU volts and enabling EIST to throttle. My little 2GHz e2180 worked great at 2.7 GHz at stock V but S3 sleep still did not work. I relaxed the 4*1G memory timing to slower than stock and S3 still did not work. I read from LSDMEAP that "auto" sets CPU PLL too high so I set that back to 1.5V and I also set ICH IO to 1.57V.

    VOILA! - S3 has worked perfectly ever since.

    Hi all.
    I'm running a q6600 at stock levels and I too become unstable after resuming from s3 sleep, but unlike most, I'm using XP x64.

    WTF?
