    Default Posting my BIOS Settings for the EP45-DS3L

    Just thought I'd put this up here in case it's helpful for anyone trying to get this board stable with 2 DIMMs. My system specs are below. I have experienced (suffered?) many of the stability problems others with P43/45 boards have complained about, but these settings are working for me with lots of benchmarks, run-time and boot-time. Performance is great. The only thing left to resolve is the BSODs on resume from S3 standby (see related threads on this forum). The consensus is that this will be resolved via a BIOS update from Gigabyte.
    If anyone (LSD or others) have any feedback on these settings or how I might adjust things further, please let me know.

    Looks good I suppose if you do not want to tweak your ram to it's best/fastest bandwidth. If you did want to, I would at the very least add some MCH voltage, and set Static tRead Values to 7-10

    Auto is normally not the best, just so you know. But it does take time for sure to tweak and find the best/stable settings. Something not everyone has the time or patience to do

    Hey LSD. I'm totally open to tweaking things further. Part of why I made the list was because I *finally* got things stable, so I wanted to be sure I could get back to stability after making other adjustments. If you have specific recommendations, I would be willing to try with appreciation!

    OK as you know I will post ranges, With the higher numbers of course being the loosest and to be used first. Then lower each one, ONE AT A TIME and use memtest86+ between each move to see if it was a stable move or not.

    I use Test #2 and #5 and let them run about 10 minutes or so each before I make my next move. Then after a few moves I will let it run a complete test once then 2 + 5 again by themselves for 1 hour to be sure that it is fully stable.

    To choose tests in Memtest86+ all you do is >>>>
    1. First press C

    2. then 1

    3. then 3

    4. and finally select the test that you want to run

    5. press Enter

    6. and then 0 to get it running

You can save your Stable BIOS settings you are using now in a profile, this is so much easier then trying to write them down or keep them in mind. (See below)

    If you do not do this already, here is how >>>

    On the MAIN BIOS page push F11 with the settings you are using now that you deem stable. Then give this profile and name and choose enter. It is now saved.

    Then you can proceed to make any changes you want, then go back to MAIN BIOS page and choose F11 again and move the cursor down to spot #2 and name this "Testing" or "Overclocking" and save it again.

    Now you have 2 profiles in the BIOS, you can choose either anytime by going to the MAIN page and pushing F12 to select and load a profile.

    You can make up to 8 I think, I have Several with different multi's used and ram speeds

    That's awesome, man! Thanks for spending the time. I have saved this off to a file and will experiment as I have the time. I know I could push the CPU more on this machine too, but I'm pretty happy with it at 3.2G and I feel the temps are very safe there. Still, I may try...
    As far as switching off the power management routines, I understand your point there. I'd certainly be more willing to do that if the effing S3 function worked properly!
    L, I would recommend you set up a web page with a paypal link so people can make a donation for your time and effort. Even if it's just a couple of bucks here and there, you help so many people it would probably add up. No reason why someone shouldn't be paid for what they know...

    I would like to do that as I am badly in need of a P45 to help address issues here, but am worried about my address getting out there in the receipts paypals send out in payment receipts

    There's gotta be a way to set up an account under a business name or something, with just PO Box info. I would check into it (if you haven't already).

    Well I dont have a PO nor do I want to drive 40 minutes to town just to make one. But I do think they would want a CC or Bank tied to a business account

    I think I may shoot them a email and ask about things, wait a week for the reply and see how it goes
