Yes you cannot use S3 Sleep yet with P45, the P35 BIOS fix just came out a month or so ago. It just has not been fixed yet in P45, so please do not try to use it

S1 should work if you need it that badly, but I am not sure as I have not tried the things you mentioned.

AVG is terrible, but you know how those Anti-Virus opinions can go with everyone. That is all up to you, but is sounds like something is conflicting with the program for sure

What was the BSOD error code? If the screen is too fast for you, you can disable Automatic restarts on BSOD so you can actually have time to see the codes. Right click My Computer, select Properties, then advanced system settings on the left.

Then in that windows choose the advanced Tab, and at the bottom click "Startup and Recovery" Settings Button.

Then in the new window in the system failure Box UnCheck Automatic Restart as shown below >>>

Then from now on, Or until you recheck this box, when you have a BSOD your PC will not reboot but will remain on the BSOD screen until you reboot it. This way you have plenty of time to see, and write the code down

OK. I set it to not restart. My PC was on all night and no problems. Do you suggest any other free anti virus progs? Is now a good time to try setting my bios to your suggestions?

Ok, now when you get a BSOD write down the error code before you reboot the system and I can try and help you debug the error

Ya, you can try the settings I posted anytime, but not sure which you mean? I only posted one suggestion here for you and that was to turn on Turbo.

Please fill out the template I posted and I will post you back some settings. I just need to know what you are using now beforehand

Just uninstalled AVG and tried to install Kaspersky. As the system was restarting after install I got the BSOD. Here is the info:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL <--- I believe I did see this in previous BSODs

Disable BIOS memory options such as cashing or shadowing <--Dont know if this is important

    Technical Info
    Stop: 0x0000000A
    (09F1FFFF4, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0x820DC89D)

Ya, sorry for not leaving a suggestion there about Antivirus. I do not recommend free ones, so I was not sure what to suggest to you. My suggestion though if you want to purchase one would be Eset NO32 or Eset Smart Security

That is a driver conflict error, or general driver error. Also can be caused by IRQ's if set wrong, do you have them on Auto assignment in the BIOS? If so then it is just likely a error due to leftover crap/drivers/reg info from AVG and Kasperskey is conflicting with it

I ALWAYS use a REAL uninstall program to uninstall things, normal uninstallers that come with programs always leave junk behind... Drivers, Reg Keys, File and folders, startup items, ect the list goes on.

There are many out there, but I use "Your Uninstaller 2008". Total Uninstaller is also another good one

    BIOS settings.

    I see this issue >>>
    Channel A
    Static tRead Value................:Auto (reads as 8) << (A & B Should Always Match)

    Channel B
    Static tRead Value................:Auto (reads as 9) << (A & B Should Always Match)

PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) .........: Set to 100 ALWAYS (Especially Important if you ever overclock, so set now and get used to remembering to be sure it is 100)

Command Rate (CMD) ....................:2 << Set as 2, if you have good.

Performance Enhance...................: [Standard] <<< You have Turbo, Set to standard, having this in turbo mode will ignore some of your settings and often mess up your stability. I would for sure leave on Standard as you are overclocking your ram to 1066. So best to set manually all items, if you do not want to set all as it does take some time at least manually set the BOLD items

    MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.)
    Robust Graphics Booster ...............: Auto
    CPU Clock Ratio ..........................: 8x
    Fine CPU Clock Ratio.....................:+0.0
    CPU Frequency ...........................: 2.6 (333x8)

    Clock Chip Control
    Standard Clock Control
    CPU Host Clock Control..................: [Disabled]
CPU Host Frequency (Mhz) ............: 333 Mhz
    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) .........:100

    Advanced Clock Control [Press Enter]
    CPU Clock Drive...........................: 800 mV
PCI Express Clock Drive.................: 900 mV
CPU Clock Skew (ps)....................: 50-150 ps << Not really needed until you overclock to high FSB
MCH Clock Skew (ps)...................: 50-250 ps << Not really needed until you overclock to high FSB

    DRAM Performance Control
    Performance Enhance...................: [Standard]
    Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.).....: Disabled
(G)MCH Frequency Latch...............: [333] << can also test 400 (It is better if you can use)
    System Memory Multiplier ..............: 3.20
    Memory Frequency (Mhz) ..............: 1066
    DRAM Timing Selectable ................: [Manual]

    Standard Timing Control
    CAS Latency Time........................5
    tRCD ......................................... 5
    tRP'...........................................5
    tRAS..........................................12/15

    Advanced Timing Control
    tRRD...........................................3-4
    tWTR..........................................4-6 (9-11)
    tWR........................................... 3-5 (11-14)
    tRFC...........................................48-50 (52-62)
    tRTP...........................................3-6
    Command Rate (CMD) ....................:2

    Channel A
Static tRead Value.........................:7-10 (Has most impact on Performance)

    Channel B
Static tRead Value.........................:7-10 (Has most impact on Performance)

Hey thanks for the settings! I am going to try these as soon as I get home from the Marlins game tonight. I am confused about what you said about especially changing the BOLD ones. None of them are bold in your post.

PrairieDawg thanks for the suggestion. That article suggested I install KB929777. I did have problems installing this update in my prior attempts at reinstalling Vista. I cant install this update however. It says that it is not for my system. I think this is because it was included with SP1 and is already installed. You see, this time I installed SP1 on a clean install of Vista instead of letting Windows Update install a bunch of individual updates (including this one) and then install SP1.

1 more question. You put 2 ranges of numbers for each item in the Advanced Timing Control section. Which do I use?
