    Default x48t Dq6 mem settings Question (Lsdmeasap?) for 7-7-7-20 1333mhz OCZ plat.

    Hi, the standards for my memory are:

    However, I cannot seem to get it running stable in my system:
    Systeem=
    E8500, 4g (2x2 GB) 1333mhz DDR3 7-7-7-20, GA X48t DQ6, Club3D 4870X2, 850W coolermaster realpower. G15 en MX400 muis Bios versie F5, vista home premium x64. Catalyst 8.8

    After a bit of help from OCZ, tweakers, and inspired by this tweaktown post. I decided to change by BIOS settings to this: (am newb)

    Robust Graphics Booster - AUTO
    CPU Clock Ratio - 9x (+fine clock 0,5 for e8500)
    CPU Host Clock Control - Enabled
    xCPU Host Frequency (MHz) - 333
    PCI Express Frequency -100
    CIA 2 - DISABLED
    System Memory Multiplier (SPD) AUTO
    DRAM timing Selectable (SPD) Manual

    Performance Enhance - STANDARD

    Is this a proper fail safe setting for my mem? Or Am I way off? Orthos lasts for 9 hours.

    That is a Safe range, but not the best your memory will do.

    Would you like some tighter ram timings, or are you just asking if the above is ok to use? Which it is, but your ram will perform better if you get it set to the specified settings

    Hi, well...I've had some problems, BSOD, crashes, freezes etc.
    When I use standard settings (load optimized defaults) my system becomes unstable. And now I am just looking for the best settings for this RAM on my x48t Dq6. And seeing your replies here I thought you might have some suggestions for me to try.... what changes to the above would you make?

    Well since it is likely you do not own 2 DDR3 boards so you could test that the ram is DOA I will leave things Loose timingwise at CAS of 9. Later I will help you get CAS 7 working, which they are rated to run at.

    If the below fails then 2 things are likely. The ram is DOA, or not compatible with your board. Timings of 999-24 with 777-20 sticks should FOR SURE Work

    I will try your suggested settings and report back once I managed to run memtest86+ and Orthos for a substantial amount of time. (+-24 h)

    K, please do

    Memtest86+ is what you will need to run mainly for the ram tests. Orthos can fail at anytime due to CPU or NB errors as well so it would not be your best test for ram settings

    Well, that worked like a charm. I ran memtest for 24 hours, no errors. Orthos in blend for 27 hours no errors. So I guess it is safe to assume that I have no dead hardware in my rig right?

    So do these settings obstruct proper performance? As you pointed out these are fail safe settings. But what could be the reason I cannot run my ram at the stock settings without crashes and freezes? I was also wondering if the long loading times for games I see now are a result of my RAM settings...Do you have a plan to go from these stable settings to something slightly more performance oriented?

    Yeap, those are GOOD longs runs! Alot of people settle for 12 hours or so and say thats enough. Personally I'm with you I do 24+ in my testing when I think I have found a good stable point

    No, they do not obstruct performance. But they can now be lower to increase performance. I gave you those so you could so you could get somewhere, and now that you have can you please post back the full template with only the settings you are now using, and all of them please. And I will see what I can give you to start getting them lowered

    The slow loading of games usually is a slow Hard drive, and yes ram as well. But alot of it is the drives. What drives do you have, are they old, and are you running RAID at all?

    I use a Maxtor 500GB disk, ms/cache/rpm= 8,5 / 32 / 7200
    Not a fast disk...and not in RAID.
    So that must be the long loading times...

    I enabled SATA Port0-3 Native Mode in my (f5) BIOS, does that have any influence on speed?

    Well actually a 32MB cache and 7200 is a fast disk, so you should not have slow loading times for games really. Do you defrag your disk often? If not you should, that could also add to the slowness. But really it will likely depend on the game, some load far more maps and such just to startup so it may just be the one game you often play happens to load alot.

    Disk settings (For the Yellow/Intel) ports should be >>>

    SATA RAID/AHCI Mode.......... [Disbled or AHCI if you installed it with the OS]
    SATA Port0-3 Native Mode........... [Enabled]

    As for your MIT Settings, here is some things you can work on lowering. Remember to test between each move and only move one at a time or you wont know what is giving you the errors

    Performance Enhance - STANDARD


    xCAS Latency Time - 9 << Try 7
    xDRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay - 9 << Try 7
    xDRAM RAS# tPrecharge - 9 << Try 7
    xPrecharge Delay (tRAS) - 24 << Try 20

    Set the above ones first, then one at a time start trying the lower ranges below. Start with Static tRead trying 7-8, if 7 or 8 works leave it and then try the rest starting at the top working your way down to the bottom

    xRank Write to Read Delay - 12 << Try 4-10

    xWrite to Precharge Delay - 16 << Try 8-14

    xRefresh to ACT Delay - 72 <<< Try 60-70 (May not go much lower with DDR3)
    xRead to Precharge Delay - 6


    xStatic tREAD Value -9 << (7-9)This you can try to bring down, it has THE MOST impact on speeds.

    xStatic tREAD Phase Adjust - 0 AUTO << Leave at 1-31, Zero, or Auto

    xCommand Rate (CMD) - 2
