    Default X48T-DQ6 issues with TW3X4G1800C8DF

I'm not trying to over clock, but am having issues with this board from the basis it is not allowing me to run the memory at the CPU's rated FSB.

I'm running this board with an Intel QX9770
    4 Corsair TW3X4G1800C8DF Dominators for a total of 8GB
    Windows Vista 64.

Vista runs stable with no lock-ups, this is an issue strictly with the BIOS.
I have reset the CMOS, re-flashed the BIOS with F5 and deleted the DMI, loaded the optimized default settings. The BIOS recognizes all 8GB at 1800 with 8,8,8,24 timings.

It's the BIOS which refuses to save my settings and shuts the computer down, some times as much as two reboots after I change the settings, but almost always reloads stock settings. Some times I can get the Board to run stable at 8x and 1600 but if the computer is shut down it relaods stock settings AND THIS OCCURS WITH BOTH 2 AND FOUR MODULES INSTALLED!!!!

The QX9770 is rated at 1600 FSB and all I'm trying to do for now is get the BIOS set to the CPU rated speed. Below are the following settings I have tried to load.

All Auto thermal and stepping options are Disabled.

    M.I.T. Intelligent Tweaker (MIT)
    Robust Graphics Booster [Auto]
    CPU Clock Ratio [8]
    Fine CPU Clock Ratio [0.0]
    CPU Frequency 3.2 (8 x 400Mzh)
    CPU Host Clock Control [Enabled]
    CPU Host Frequency [400]
    PCI Express Frequency [Auto]
    C.I.A.2 [Disabled]
    Performance Enhance [Standard]
    Extreme Memory Profiles [Enabled]
System Memory Multiplier [4.00D] recommended setting for 400FSB
    Memory Frequency [1600]
    Dram Timing [Manual]
    Standard Timing Control
    CAS [8]
    Dram RAS to CAS# [8]
    DRAM RAS Precharge [8]
    Precharge Delay [24]
    Advanced timing control:
    ACT to ACT [7]
    Rank Write to Read [7]
    Write to Precharge [14]
    Refresh to ACT [100]
    Read to Precharge [7]
    Static tRead [9]
    Static tRead Phase [0]
    Comand Rate [2]

Clock Driving and Skew Control: All set to Auto

System Voltage Control: All set to Auto except

    DDR3 OverVoltage Control [+.05]
Normal CPU Vcore [1.3000] in auto BIOS was setting it to [1.51000] and running the core too hot!!!!!

The default setting the Board almost always tries to load are:
    M.I.T. Intelligent Tweaker (MIT)
    Robust Graphics Booster [Auto]
    CPU Clock Ratio [7]
    Fine CPU Clock Ratio [0.5]
    CPU Frequency 3.37 (7.5 x 450Mzh)
    CPU Host Clock Control [Disabled]
CPU Host Frequency [450] Dimmed out
    PCI Express Frequency [Auto]
    C.I.A.2 [Disabled]
    Performance Enhance [Standard]
    Extreme Memory Profiles [Disabled]
System Memory Multiplier [Auto] recommended setting for 400FSB
    Memory Frequency [1333] Dimmed out
    Dram Timing [Auto]
    Standard Timing Control
    CAS [9]
    Dram RAS to CAS# [9]
    DRAM RAS Precharge [9]
    Precharge Delay [24]

This is by far the most frustrating Board from Gigabyte I have delt with. This Board is advertized to run with high end components and falls way short. I am very disappointed with Gigabyte and the lack of support for this board considering the premium price paid. Rest assured this is the last Gigabyte product I buy!!!!

Similar pain here with only 4x1GB Corsair with Intel Q9450 on 64bit Vista. I tend to but a load on it. Memory tests (Vista) have not failed.

First MB lasted 32 days. BSODs. Wrecked the controller which took out new HDD. Frys would not not replace mb. Had to buy a new one and will get GB to replace first one. I do think the F7 bios had more issues with my system than F6 so went back there. Not setting turbo in bios.... Would like to hear what others have seen.

You should try this for a Quad >>>
    CPU/PCIEX Clock Driving Control [800-900mV]
CPU Clock Skew Control [50-150ps] << I would start with 150 and work down
GMCH Clock Skew Control [50-250ps] << I would start with 250 and work down

And you FOR SURE need to add +0.1 or +0.2 MCH voltage for 8GB, +0.3 may even be needed, +0.1-0.2 is recommended just for 2x2GB.

And you likely should/need to manually set the Ram Voltage to it's default. The boards default is 1.5V, most DDR3 is 1.8V. Similar to DDR2 JEDEC Standards of 1.8V and most using 2.1. So just check your ram sticker and see if you need to adjust it to 1.8V. See below

I found this at Corsair about those modules >>>
This memory has been verified to operate at 1800MHz at latencies of 8-8-8-24 at 1.8V VDIMM. >>>
    http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/TW3X4G1800C8DF.pdf

And for 8GB at that speed you may also need to set CAS to 9, so 9-8-8-24. But you may not need this once you add the needed MCH voltage, and set the DDR3 voltage in the BIOS

It appears that upping the voltages has solved most of the problems and I have isolated the failure to store BIOS settings to Xtreme Memory Profiles and System Memory Multiplier settings.
At the the following settings the system runs stable

    M.I.T. Intelligent Tweaker (MIT)
    Robust Graphics Booster [Auto]
    CPU Clock Ratio [8]
    Fine CPU Clock Ratio [0.0]
    CPU Frequency 3.2 (8 x 400Mzh)
    CPU Host Clock Control [Enabled]
    CPU Host Frequency [400]
    PCI Express Frequency [Auto]
    C.I.A.2 [Disabled]
    Performance Enhance [Standard]
    Extreme Memory Profiles [Enabled]
    System Memory Multiplier [Auto]
    Memory Frequency [1600] {Dimmed Out}
    Dram Timing [Manual]
    Standard Timing Control
    CAS [8]
    Dram RAS to CAS# [8]
    DRAM RAS Precharge [8]
    Precharge Delay [24]

    Advanced Timing Control

    ACT to ACT [7]
    Rank Write to Read [7]
    Write to Precharge [14]
    Refresh to ACT [100]
    Read to Precharge [7]
    Static tRead [9]
    Static tRead Phase [0]
    Comand Rate [2]

    Clock Driving and Skew Control

    CPU/PCIEX Clock Driving Control [900mV]
    CPU Clock Skew Control [150ps] {unstable with <}
    GMCH Clock Skew Control [200ps] {unstable with <}

    System Voltage Control

    DDR3 OverVoltage Control [+0.30V]
    PCI-E OverVoltage Control [Auto]
    (G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.200]
    CPU Voltage Control [1.30000V] {in Auto BIOS sets to 1.5 which runs chip too Hot!!}

The system now shuts down and starts normally.

However with Memory settings set to anything other than these...

Xtreme Memory Profiles (X.M.P. )[Profile1] and
System Memory Multiplier (SPD )[Auto] and
    Memory Frequency 1800 1600 <--- {Dimmed Out}
    DRAM Timing (SPD) [Manual]

....the System continues to power down, reboot, and load default settings, 7.5 x 450 @1333.

Also any attempt to Over Clock makes the system becomes unstable and locks up after a few minutes. Any attempt to Overclock above 420FSB causes to system to lock up immediately!

Any suggestions for getting the system to overclock??? All I want is some minor overclocking for now with the FSB to 8x 425 @1700.

Here's an attachment showing the system normal at 8 x 400

Another minor issue I'm having is with the Graphics cards. I'm running two ATI-Radeon 4850 (Gigabyte) in both PCIe Slots powering 4 monitors. On boot-up the cards see only 1 monitor each. Every time I start I have to go into settings/display and turn off all but one monitor to get the others to boot. Once booted all works fine, also in sleep mode all monitors work OK. Is this a Vista 64 problem? A ATI driver problem, or Motherboard problem??

The main thing is with Profiles enabled that disregards your timings choices if you make any, and any MCH latch or Ram Multi you set.

So you need to decide if you want to use them or not and if you want to overclock or not. Which I see you do want to overclock, and based on those settings listed above I would think XMP profile sucks. I would manually set it all myself. Before you start thinking about or overclocking PLEASE Set this to >>>
    PCI Express Frequency [100]

That would likely be a ATI Driver issue, have you added PCI-E voltage? If not you can try +.1 or .2

Here is where I would start with 8X425 >>>>

    Robust Graphics Booster [Auto]
    CPU Clock Ratio [8]
    Fine CPU Clock Ratio [0.0]
    CPU Frequency 3.4 (8 x 425Mzh)
    CPU Host Clock Control [Enabled]
    CPU Host Frequency [425]
    PCI Express Frequency [100]
    C.I.A.2 [Disabled]

    Performance Enhance [Standard]

    Extreme Memory Profiles [Disabled]
    System Memory Multiplier [4.00]
    Memory Frequency [1600]

    Dram Timing [Manual]
    Standard Timing Control
CAS [8] << try 9 for now if all fails. 8GB is ALOT of stress on NB and system
    Dram RAS to CAS# [8]
    DRAM RAS Precharge [8]
    Precharge Delay [24]

    Advanced Timing Control

    ACT to ACT [7] << 4-7
    Rank Write to Read [7] << 9-14
    Write to Precharge [14] << 12-16
Refresh to ACT [100] <<< 65-75 (May actually need more but 100 is excess for sure)
    Read to Precharge [7] << -4-8
    Static tRead [9] <<< 7-12
Static tRead Phase [0] << Leave on AUTO, Zero, or 1-31
    Comand Rate [2]

    Clock Driving and Skew Control

    CPU/PCIEX Clock Driving Control [900mV]
    CPU Clock Skew Control [150ps] {unstable with <}
    GMCH Clock Skew Control [200ps] {unstable with <}

    System Voltage Control

    DDR3 OverVoltage Control [+0.30V]
    PCI-E OverVoltage Control [+.1 -.15 -.2] << For stability for your 2x cards
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.200] << may need more with 8GB (And a Fan on NB)
CPU Voltage Control [1.30000V] << may need more as you know for more

I also have a X48T-DQ6 with Q6600 and hyper x 1800 looks like my memory is going at 1066? Ie tryed change fsb and little of this and little of that, but always go back to stock, i dont have a clue why.

I was not trying to overclock i just want my memory to go at the normal 1800 now its about 800 to slow and that sucks.

Should i aybe change processor to a E8500 with 1333 so the memory and processor works at the same fsb.

What do you think computer gurus?????

    Thanks in advance......

You need to change the Memory Multiplier in the BIOS to make the ram faster. And yes, you MAY have to overclock your CPU as well to get there.

Please post your FULL specs (Like 2x2 or 2x1 ram mostly) and Fill this in with your settings. And I will suggest some back to you to get your ram clocked a little higher >>>>

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

    This is the exact memory i use......Komplett.se - Kingston DDR3 HyperX 1800MHz 2GB, Kit w/two HyperX 1024MB DDR3, CL8-8-8-24

ill try the settings as soon as possible......if i wanna go higher and maybe overclock like you said......whar will the settings be in bios if i wanna come close to like 2,70 ghz or 3ghz and near 1800mhz on the memorys???
Thanks for your answers, very kind:)

Edited above post, your ram is 1.9V Ram.

The above post is at 3.0Ghz, incase you did not see (9x333=2997)

For 3.0 with higher ram speeds you will have to switch back down to the 8 Mutliplier for your CPU. To get 1800 Ram speed you will need to use the 7 multi, or run your CPU at 3.6 (8x450), which your chip/cooler may or may not do.

I will also post a 7 Multi table below

    3.0Ghz W/ 8 Multi. Ram at 1500
