    Default Overclocking a GA-EP45-DS3R w/ E8500

    Hi Guys,

    Very new, first post here :)

    I am looking to overclock. I have a:

    GA-EP45-DS3R BIOS F9F

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 (using Xigmatek S1283)

    Patriot Signature Line PSD22G8002H 2*2 GB DDR2 800 CL5 (PC2 6400) (Slot 1 & 3 on the Mainboard)

    No settings have been touched in bios, so everthing is at default values;

    I am looking for a simple overclock. I want to go for 3.8 Ghz so my memory timings would match for 1:1 at 400 Mhz.

    some step by step instructions or any help would be really appreciated, as I am very new to overclocking and do not want to burn out my PC parts.

    Welcome aboard! Have you read the guides I posted/pinned? If not please read thryu them so you will get to know some of your BIOS a little better.

    You will be fine as long as you do not overvolt things like crazy. You may need 1.30-1.35V for your CPU for 3.8, just watch your CPU temps. I would start high so you can for sure boot into windows, then lower until it fails. Then go back up one notch

    Here is some settings for you to start with at 3.8. Ram timings will be ranges you can lower one at a time later testing after each move with Memtest86+

    Please post your exact settings in full you are trying and your hardware again in a template, then I can advise you on what you may need to change to get going.

    Template link is in my signature.
