    BongWiz,

Thanks. I'll give that stuff a try. Right now I messed with timing and ran memtest test 2 & 5. passed a few times.
    Here's what I changed.
    cas - 5
    tRCD - 5
    tRP - 5
    tRAS - 15

    trrd - 4
    twtr - 4
    twr - 5
    trfc - 62
    trtp - 6
    cmd - 2

    channel a & b timing at AUTO

    MCH core 1.3V
    DRAM 2.1V

I'll try the latch at 333 and up the MCH a bit too.

I re-read LCD's memory timing guide this morning, I might go back through again.

Thanks for the input... I'll let you guys know how it goes.

    Hey guys,

Hope you're still watching my struggle....

I may have done it.... or something at least. Problem is, it seemed too simple.

After messing around countless times trying to fiddle with numbers, just to see my blue LED fan turn on and off, I decided to change one little thing at a time. I first tried to set RAM Volts to what it tells me on the RAM, 2.1V. Crash, reboot. next tried that with a little extra MCH core, crash. Long story shorter, I left basically everything at the Optimized Default, and changed the following....

    CPU Host Freq - 333
    PCI Ex Freq - 100
    Performance Enhance - Stand.
    MGH Freq Latch - 333
    Syst. Mem. Mult. - 3.20B
    DRAM Timing - Auto

    ALL VOTAGE - auto

I've got the 3.0GHz I was looking for. CPU Temp is up 3 degrees (c) to 33 degrees.

    PC Health tells me my:
    Vcore is 1.38V
    DDR18V is 1.968V

    Could this be it?
What do you recommend I fine tune, if anything?

I'm about to try the MemTest, and I've downloaded Prime95 to try and give that a run.

I hope this is basically works, but I value the help and suggestions you've all (LSD & Bong) given me, as well as reading some of the other posts here.

For sure this is a great resource, and I', glad I stumbled across it.

Well I see DDR is coming out to 1.96, when you set 2.1. So you may need to set 2.2 to get the full 2.1 to your ram

Then you should likely be able to start getting them out of AUTO. I bet that may have been why so many crashes before. Remember a double boot is normal, triple is not. (Just incase you was thinking double boot was a crash)

I would them start with seeing if you can manually set the MAIN timings without a triple boot and then if so start one by one manually setting the Subtimings. Start with them high just to be on the safe side, then lower one at a time

    You said LSD and Bong

Let us know how you get along with those thoughts in mind

    Yeah thanks,

It seems to be running well now, just with everything at auto.
I did set the timing to 5-5-5-15 and tested, worked well at auto.
When I tried to manually set voltage, first at 2.1 then at 2.2 it fails memtest. Tried to up the MCH Volts, which led to a never ending (at least until I pulled the cord) set of reboots. I tried a few things last night too, mainly upping the from 333 to 356, just to see what would happen. I got all excited when windows loaded.... but a few seconds is all it took for the BSOD to come knocking.

So now I'm back at Auto Volts, 9x333MHz
. Mem LAtch at 333 with a 3.2 multiplier. and manual timing of 5-5-5-15.

Show voltages of 1.376 and 1.968.

I figure that I'll leave it here for now, but I'll be back next week I'm sure when I cant get the extra 4gb of RAM to work.
Maybe AUto Voltage will still work for that....

Also odd, EasyTune6 is showing CPU temp at 80F and sppedfan shows core temps at 95-99F. Must be read at different locals....I need to get rid of that EasyTune stuff anyway....

    Thanks again.

Well let us know when you get the extra ram and We will see what can be done. I can say just manually setting the DDR voltage should not fail, did you try 2.0, or just 2.1-2.2. That is odd for sure.

Sounds to me like one of the Auto settings for subtimings is likely off, which is why I suggest against it. Wanna post some pics, or let us know with MemSet what Auto is giving you for those subtimings and maybe I could possibly tell you why a manual volt change fails >>>
    Tweakers.fr

What BIOS are you using now, could also be a issue

Speedfan is likely off but I am not sure I have not used it in years. And easytune likely reads the CPU temp and not the core temps. What you need to use is CoreTemp >>>
    Core Temp

It will accurately tell you the Core Temps, which is what you want to watch

    Hey,

Not sure if I tried 2.0V.

    MemSet 3.5
    System
    Chiopset Intel P45 fsb/dram 5:8
    Mem DDR3 540.2MHz Size 2x2048

    Timings
5-5-5-5-15 These I set in Bios, Here's the others.

    Other Timing
    All Precharge to Activate 6
    tRFC 68
    Performance level 11
    Write to Precharge Delayed 16
    tWTR 12
    tRRD 4
    tRD_WR 9
    tRTP 6
All Precharge to Refresh delay 6
    tREF 4157
    CR 2T

It's the same values for A and B

Is that what you are looking for?

Yeap, that is what I wanted. But A picture would have been better.

Those do look fine so you should be able to manually enter them with the 333 strap

Ahh F9 eh, well F10 is still in beta, up to F10g now. It does say improves memory performance though, so it must be something they are working on. Maybe that is why you are having issues with F9.

Might have to wait, or try older BIOS's if you havent already.

But in the end, you should probably wait till you get your ram in

hey LSD i tried some of these settings except with 266 instead of 333because im not over clocking with th ep45 ds3l (thats similar right?) and in cpu id only the memory has changed to 533mhz. but the ram spd still shows 400 mhz?

Ya, same board only less quality in the board and chipset.

SPD will always show the same values. Those are only what is programmed into the Chip

If you are using CPU-z to look at this then you need to see the memory tab only to check ram speed/main timings
