Only 4GB? Your son is winning then?

Yeap Final BIOS Versions for S3 fix have been released and fixes for sure the S3 Sleep issues for all P43/45 boards

So what Ram combination do you have now, and what brand/speed/timings/voltages to be sure? Not sure since you ordered ram, canceled ram and all that, just want to be sure of what you are using

Sorry for my late reply, do not worry I am back now! So when you post me this info you will have a quick reply back this time.

Not to worry, Lsdmeasap - I will sure beat him somehow - maybe I will upgrade my video card before he does!

    My Ram is 2x 2 GB sticks of Gskill 1066(pc2 8500), 5 5 5 15, 2.0v -2.1v.

Is that the info you needed?

    Thanks!

HAHA!!! Ya get a better card, that will make him mad for sure, then setup a larger RAID and by the time he has a new card to catch up you can buy your other 4GB!

Yep that is what I wanted

Well I didn't have much luck! I tried the settings you recommend - from low end to high end on the ones where you give a range, and I couldn't get the thing to boot (it would try to boot 3 times then load the old defaults, I'm assuming).

One thing that might cause a problem, is you said to set 'Performance Enhance' to 'enhanced', but the only options I had were 'standard' 'extreme' and 'turbo' - I put it on 'standard'.

Is there another setting that might be a problem? Or can you suggest which settings I should play with one by one? If I look at the variable settings you gave me, I could try thousands of combinations of moving one up by a point, or two others down, etc. etc. I tried the high end of them all and the low end of them all, but I didn't try adjusting any 1 by 1.

    Thanks for your patience :)

Finally got home from work and gave your latest recommendations a try - no luck! Couldn't get it to boot.

Any ideas? I think I read one post where a guy with a similar system to mine had to end up clocking his bus differently so his CPU was a bit overclocked.. I can't find the post, and I'm probably confused about it anyway.

Ya, normally overclocking is better as you can use your ram 1:1 with your CPU which is faster overall then using a memory multiplier.

Let me know how far you are willing to run your CPU and I will post you a few different tables, with different CPU/FSB settings, and different ram multi's

    For now, try this >>>>

    (G)MCH Frequency Latch...............:400
    System Memory Multiplier ..............:3.20

Sit these higher this time to see if this is the issue

    Question Re: Ga-ep45-ds3l + gsk f28500-cl5d-4gbpk

I have similar setup and am having issues with the memory. Here is my setup:

GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80570E8400

    Kingston HyperX 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model KHX8500AD2K2/4GR

I have the BIOS setting to default (version F9 by the way) except had to change the CPU multiplier to x9 instead of x8 to read the E8400 correctly.

The issue I have is the memory only reads 800Mhz and it should read 1066Mhz. I puchased 1066 memory because the board was suppose to support it.

I did notice that not only is this reading 800Mhz but the timings are suppose to be 7-7-7-20 at 2.0 volts, but the board reads them as 6-6-6-18 at 1.8 volts. Anytime I try and change them the board does not boot.

I would like to get this issued settled so that I can start the overclocking process, (would like to get the CPU OC to about 3.6Ghz, if I can. Any suggestions on this also would be appreciated.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1066Mhz ram is 800Mhz ram, the user must manually set the Voltage and timings and memory multiplier to run 1066

For 2x2 you also need to add some MCH voltage

Did you just build this? I ask because your CPU should have been picked up right, or you have not ever loaded optimized defaults. Which you need to do, so please do that first then reboot and start your changes.

I would set MCH voltage t 1.2 or 1.25 and set ram voltage to 2.0, then reboot back into the BIOS and manually set your ram timings and multiplier and begin your overclocking

    *EDIT*
One second and I will post you some suggested settings for 3.6

You made a bad choice in ram, 777-20 ram is pretty cheaply made. You should have picked at least 555-15/18. I see the price and you had far better choices. Just giving you some thing to think about incase you can still RMA to newegg, which they are great about.
