    Hello,

    This is my first Gigabyte motherboard and I'm glad to have found this forum. I am trully imressed by high merytoric level tha can be provided here.

    My spec is as follows:

    1. CPU Intel Core 2 Duo 8400 -@@@ 4 Ghz - unstable
    2. MoBo - GIGABYTE GA -EP45 DS 4P
    3. Ram Memory - 2 x 2gb Patriot 800
    4. Video card Geforce gtx 260
    5. CPU - Cooler - Frezzer 7 Pro -

    TEMERATURES:

    CPU IDLE - 46 according to Core Temp 0.99.3

    I have already read the all suggested topic which should be read by Noobs. I must admit that after applying the recommended settings my system did not boot.

    I would like to request the forum's imput on what BIOS settings I need to make to get system run stable. But as I mentioned when I applied the recommended settings my system did not boot at all.

    Moreover please bear in mind that my cooling device is not very efficient, therefore I would like rather keep the cpu vcore low.

    Welcome aboard. I do see some issues with your settings. Here is what I would suggest for a starting point for you for 4Ghz. Have you booted it before? I ask this only because I was not sure if your Vcore that you have listed was enough or not for your CPU.

    46 Idle is not good at all, even if it is a stock cooler. I would suggest you re-seat it and use less paste. Or re-seat it and be SURE it is tightened down. Even the stock cooler should be colder then that at idle

    If your cooler is stock, or not good enough and your temps rise, then you will have to buy a new one before you can run 4GHz. You cannot run it with a low Vcore if your CPU will not do it, and it sounds already like you should be looking for a new cooler. (I use 1.312V for 4Ghz << Actual, not set in BIOS (BIOS set 1.320), some have to use 1.35+ <<< Actual, not set in BIOS).

    Like I say below, you will have to raise it for a while until you can see what will boot at 4GHz for your chip. Then slowly lower until it will not boot, then raise back up a little more

    Yes I have. EVERYTHING seems to be fine until I try to run Intel Burn test or ORTHORS. Within one second orthos shows mistakes. I haven’t try to run any games because I don’t have any right now however I assume if the orthos shows mistakes the game or other demanding application will not run work any way. Or the system will be constantly crushing down. <o:p></o:p>

    I have already ordered new cooler - Thermaright 120 Extreme. I should have it tomorrow.<o:p></o:p>

    I thought maybe that was a error. Where I posted ranges (3-6 and so on) you would set to the highest setting first, then later lower one at a time with memtest86+ testing between each move

    Can you test orthos, ONLY Small fft's? Just want to see if you are giving your CPU enough volts. If small or large fft's fails then the CPU is not stable. What voltage are you trying, and did you think it was the CPU that is not stable or ram? Usually if orthos fails that fast on blend (Default setting) it is the CPU as the ram tests do not start for a few minutes into the testing

    Hi Again, Well i got my Thermalright 120 true black + 120mm fan installed today. The temperature has dropped to the 40- 42 in IDLE (vcore 1.312 in accordance to the CPU-Z) I tried to set the vcore to 1.35 as you suggested however I noticed one strange issue. When I set the vcore to the 1.35 the computer hangs while the windows is booting. there is no such effect when the vcore is set below 1,35. Strange...


    Any way I tried to run Orthos on "ONLY Small fft's?" and it keeps crushing...

    And One more thing. When I applied the recommended bios setting to the Ram settings the computer is not starting at all. Apparently it doesn’t like any changes made with respect to the ram. I noticed that in accordance to the cpu-Z the ram work on such settings (Auto in Bios) :
    DRAM frequency 445
    FSB"RAM 1:1
    cas lantecy 5
    Ras to cas 6
    ras precharge 6
    cycle timing 14
    command rate 2t

    Please advise what I should I do to keep this 4 ghz.?

    (when the system boots on 1.35 - orthos keep crushing....

    Please post your full settings you are trying, and I can better reply to you as what may be too low or not enough volts
