    Default EP43-DS3, E8400, newbie need help with OC

    I just put my system together and have messed around with the OC but just success with the Graphic card so far.
    My spec:
    Motherboard EP43-DS3
    CPU E8400 3.0GHz
    Memory 2x1Gb Cossair PC2-6400 (400MHz) as in slot1 of Easy Tune 6
    Gaphic card Gigabyte 9800 GT

    I tried
    -increase FSB from around 333 to 400 but always get a blue screen after a while.
    -increase Vcore around 1.24000 to 1.4000 and try the FSB but still... blue screen after a while
    -Graphic card is OC:
    +Core 750 Mhz
    +Memory 1010 MHz
    +Shader 1800 MHz
    (run with no problem at the moment, I copied the spec from some web that I cant remember).

    So, I need help with the CPU OC, my target is 3.6 GHz because I still run on stock heatsink at the moment. I'll get Thermalright 120 EX next 2 weeks (after paying back this system debt for my friend). Therefore I need figures for stock fan and aftermarket fan. As long as it runs stable, I'll be happy. Any helps will be appreciated.

    3.6 should be easy, and likely will not need 1.4V either. But it may, or may not all depends on your chip and cooling

    Can you please post me back your settings, and I will see if I can see your issue. Please post your settings you try for your 3.6 overclock that Fail. >>>

I have seen some 8400's needing as much as 1.36 (IN WINDOWS) so you may need more or less, and remember what you set in the BIOS WILL be less in windows, at idle and even less at load. So 1.3-1.4+ may be needed to get 1.325-1.35 actual in windows

    Thanks a lots, Lsdmeasap!!! I'll test it straight away and let you know if I success. May I trouble you for 1 more thing? What should I increase when I got my Thermalright 120 EX Heatsink. Some pp say it is stable for E8400 at 4.0GHz. Once again thank you and wish you all the best

    I success with 3.6GHz, and my CPU run cool at 33C - Idle and 50C - Load (Prime95) with Thermalright 120 EX and Noctua R12 fan.
    I thought I can put it harder but I couldnt, can you please show me what I chould increase this time to achieve 4GHz?
    I tried FPS 500 with Clock 400 MHz, vCore 1.400000 but fail.
    I need your help 1 more time Lsdmeasap plz!!

    Nice to see you got 3.6 stable. Now before you do anything else go in the BIOS and on the MAIN page hit F11 and name this profile Stable 3.6 or something like that. Then anytime you want you can load a Profile with F12 on the MAIN page. This way you can keep those settings just incase you have a tough time with 4GHz you will have a stable profile you can jump in and load anytime.

    Now, go in and make a second profile. Just change something and go back out to the MAIN page and save again, Be sure to use the arrow key to move to the second line for naming this profile. Name it something like Testing 4Ghz, you can rename it anytime.

    Then you should have 2 profiles! This is a great feature many users do not take advantage of, and can save you tons of time when trying to change settings back and forth.

    For 4GHz Please post me what you ended up using for 3.6, then I can better advise you on what you need to adjust. So please post your FULL settings you are using now for 3.6
