I did not say TRY, I said TEST. Like with Memtest86+ at stock speed and timings/voltages. All this trouble may be a waste of your time if you have dying ram.

Ahh, you do not know how to boot from CD or burn a ISO? If you do not know how to burn a ISO, please see here >>>

    Nero Directions
WeetHet - CDRW - How to write an ISO CD image using Nero Burning Rom
How to burn a ISO Image using NERO

Freeware apps and directions if you do not have Nero
How to successfully burn or write an ISO-image to cd or dvd
How to Write ISO Files to CD

Then it is F12 at boot to choose your CD drive to boot from.

RAID Comment, I always add that if I mention Load Optimized. Just incase someone reads this later and forgets it needs to be done. Dont need anyone killing their RAID and blaming me

Ran memtest last night, completed 4 passes with no errors before it reset itself. Had all 4GB of ram in when doing the test.

Have you tried the other slots for your ram? Like 2+4 if you are using 1+3 now? Just ask because Just had a guy find his slots to be bad.

And hey, did you ever test each stick by itself at stock speed, timings and voltages? You should do that before you do anything else. As I said before you could have a faulty stick

Those setting are VERY LOOSE and should not be erroring at all! I would (After memtesting each stick by itself to be sure they are ok) try these changes only and see how it tests out >>>>

So to test at stock speeds just go into CMOS and load optimized defaults and run memtest, also whats a good amount of passes to run memtest for to get a serious result, ive read 7 is a good number.

Yes, you can do that or load them manually. You will want to manually set the ram voltage still though

A few passes will be fine to ensure each stick is good. 7 or more would be used for final testing after tweaking. I'd say 2 or 3 full passes for each stick should mean they are ok

Mate appreciate all the help your a gem and thankyou for your patience. I just ran memtest on 1x2GB stick in slot 2 of the MOBO for 6 passes with zero errors. I restarted the computer then bam restart. Is it starting to sound like a MOBO issue?? I mite try and run the system just on this stick for a while to see how it goes. Can u suggest some settings if that's ok.

It wouldn't be a bad GPU or corrupted install of XP would it?? I'm trying to think but i'm sure during the install process of XP i had a restart mid install and had to start again.

Test each stick one by one, in Slot ONE

Na, it is all BIOS settings. Ya, I can post you settings for one stick if you want. Let me know exactly which it is and such, and I will post when I get back home tonight
