    Default EP45 DS3R Based Build Questions

    Hello everyone,
    I thought I'd post my current build as I'm having some stability issues and major video problems (Screen tearing.. VSYNC?) and I'm not sure that my RAM settings are correct.
    MB: GA EP45 DS3R Rev2.0 Bios@10g
    CPU: Intel Q9550 Stock @ Stock speeds (8.5x333 = 2.83GHz)
    RAM: 2x OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 ==> 8GB Total, Full Banks on MoBo
    HD:
    Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB
    Vid: VisionTek HD4850 Catalyst@8.7

    I have vista x64 ultimate installed and running, but sometimes experience BSOD's. Also, there is major texture/screen tearing issues in anything D3D related.

    Vista64 + Catalyst drivers, heh: I wouldn't be so brave to try them both at a time :) Seriously: do earlier drivers do any difference?

    Honestly, I haven't noticed a difference in what drivers I've tried (8.6, 8.6HF, 8.7, 8.8)
    other than 8.6HF and 8.7 seem most stable (but not fixing the issue)

    And now to throw another variable in the loop:
    I run P95 25.5 and it crashes in a few seconds saying "Hardware fault detected... Result returns .5 but expected .4" or something similar.
    But I can run P95 24.14 for hours on end with no problems.

    Thoughts?
    I have ram on a 5:6 div (Freq 400, rated at 533), 2.1V, and 5-5-5-18-2T timings

    ***EDIT*** I think this might have been a fluke, because I'm now running P95 25.6 Build 6 without problems (Going on 2hrs)

    Still concerned about the tearing issue however.

    Your GFX card chip or ram may be overheating, that would not be anything to do with ram settings in the BIOS.

    But I can help you, as 8GB is alot and for sure needs some adjustments. I would also FOR SURE use a NON Beta BIOS

    Delayed response, but those were just about right for me.

    The culprit of some of my issues was a bad dimm, which has been replaced.
    Running stock speeds stable virtually 24/7 for the last 4 months or so.

    Looking to move up into the 3.4-3.6 range on the q9550, and have an OCZ Vendetta2 on the way. Any suggestions before I start on that?
