Default Please help me OC my EP45-DS3R / e6600 to 3.0ghz

Just got an ep45-ds3r today. Updated from F5 to F9 bios.
For some reason I'm having problems getting to 3.0ghz
2.7 works fine, although Vista 64 / CPU-Z doesn't show its running at 2.7, but on bootup it does.

    I have 4 1gig sticks of DDR2 Ram
    Corsair XMS2 240pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
    <table class="specification" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><td class="name">Speed</td> <td class="desc"><script type="text/javascript">document.write(neg_specification_newli ne('DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)'));</script>DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="name">Cas Latency</td> <td class="desc"><script type="text/javascript">document.write(neg_specification_newli ne('4'));</script>4</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="name">Timing</td> <td class="desc"><script type="text/javascript">document.write(neg_specification_newli ne('4-4-4-12'));</script>4-4-4-12</td> </tr> <tr> <td class="name">Voltage</td> <td class="desc"><script type="text/javascript">document.write(neg_specification_newli ne('2.1V'));</script>2.1V</td></tr></tbody></table>

I set 9 for multiplier, 333 for FSB
I set manual ram timings to 4-4-4-12, and the CMD to 2
MB voltage was changed to 1.35vcore.

Any help or suggestions on what I am missing? Pretty much everything else is default.

In the bios, it has "System Memory Multiplier (SPD) set to auto.
Under that, It says Memory Frequency (MHZ) 800 990

Could this be causing an issue?

Ya, sounds like you are trying to run your ram at 990 which it will not work at with 444-12 timings. And you need to disable EIST and C1E in the advanced BIOS page.

If you need more help, please post me your settings and I will post back, actually here, I will just post you some suggested settings for 3.0 with your info from above.

(CPU Vcore, all up to you and your chip/cooler, I will enter what you have mentioned)

You HAVE To SET PCI Express anyway when you overclock, as that Bus controls many other things like mainly your HD's pass thru there and can become corrupt very easy if you do not set to 100.

Nice to see you did get it working at 3.0! Good job!

Now you can if you want when you have time tweak those other ram timings I posted they will improve performance for sure. Especially Static tRead Value which AUTO likely sets high(Bad performance) if you use Auto

I'll have to look into your ram timings.
Like I said, I am using Corsair Ram, and the only specs I know for it are the 4-4-4-12.

Under advanced timing, and channel a/b, you have some ranges of values. What is the reason for the range?

Ranges are so that anyone reading at any speed may have a good chance of using them. What you do is set all to highest, then lower one at a time and test with memtest86+ between each move. If you move more then that, you wont know which is causing errors.

Static tRead Value you can lower first to 7 or so, then work on the other subtimings

So for the tRead and the
    Advanced Timing Control
    tRRD...........................................3-4
    tWTR..........................................3-6 (May need 8-12
    tWR............................................6-8 (May need 8-14)
    tRFC...........................................52-65
    tRTP...........................................4-6
    Command Rate (CMD) ....................:2

    Lower #'s are better?

Yes lower is better. Sorry for the late reply, I was installing my New P45 (Thanks Gigabyte and Mr.Tweak) and had to redo my watercooling loop
