    Wink EP45-DS4, Optimal BIOS settings for my sys

    Hi Guy's

    I just got my new system up and running:

    Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS4 (rev.1.0) Bios F7
    Intel E8400 (Q813A587)
    Thermalright Ultra 120 exTreme
    CellShock 4x1Gb 6400 (CS2221041)
    Radeon Club3D HD4870 512MB
    Samsung 750Gb (+ 5 other)
    PSU Targan 580w (Modular)
    Windows XP Pro 32bit SP3

    Everything works just fine, I am running at 9x400FSB = 3600MHz.

    Do I have the right settings in BIOS?
    What are the optimal settings in BIOS?
    I am thinking about getting it 24/7 stable at 4GHz, can you help me?

    Sure can. Aside from CPU voltage I can give you a full set of timings, But I am on my way out the door.

    If you will look around for 8400 in search you should find a 8400 with a P45 board and 4x1 ram timings, if not I will get you some tonight when I get home for sure.

    Glad you are stable for now at 3.6, makes the wait not so bad!

    Hey,

    I am still trying with your suggestions, but have not yet bin succesfull, it takes a lot of time setting the Bios and reboot, and testing (if it boots) ;-)

    I am not sure, but do you mean that I should type in the biggest value first? And if so how do I know which one's to (if succes) to give lower values?

    And about vCore, do you mean that for example 1.35 should be the value in Bios or windows?

    Yes, largest values first. Then slowly lower one at a time and test with memtest86+ after each move. Start with lowering Static tRead to 7 or 8, then advanced Timing control (5 settings) from the top downward. Keep main timings on 5-5-5-15, I doubt your ram will do 4-4-4 at 900Mhz without really hot voltages

    Do not move to many at once, or one to many lower at once otherwise you will not know which causes errors.

    Vcore is all up to your board, your CPU and your cooling. You may need more or less then 1.35, you just have to set very high so it will boot, then lower until it wont. Then raise it back up a few.

    And I did mean in windows, like if you set 1.4 in the BIOS, you may only get 1.35 or less in windows.

    So, again set all to highest I have there, and if it fails to boot then you likely need more CPU voltage is all

    I have now made the settings in Bios to all your suggestions with the highest values, and it booted all the way to windows, but a quick BSOD and then restart... ?

    Well since you get all the way to windows and BSOD I would think maybe more Vcore, less MCH. What voltage does that 1.425 give you once in windows? Or do you have time to check? I ask because I have seen a few P45's have a whole .1 droop, so you may only be getting 1.325.

    You may also want to set CPU Termination to 1.4, and pll to 1.45-1.55

    set the static tRead up to 7-11 and up the CR to 1 or 2. You might wanna put the A &B Channel voltage settings up a bit too

    You can probably get stable at even higher FSB with the DS4... ive got my FSB up to 502 on a DS3P, and ive seen people get the FSB up around that range on DS4s as well.
