Flash the latest non beta BIOS for your board F4, and you may want to reseat the CPU.

Do you have a External USB disk plugged in? If so, remove it. If not be sure you go into Integrated Peripherals Page of the BIOS and disable Legacy USB Storage Detect.

After that, please post what exact settings you use that fail.

Alright this is wat I did:

    1. Q-flashed bios to F4 successfully.
    2. When Pc rebooted, then selected 'Load Optimized Defaults', saved &
    rebooted.

    3. After windows had loaded, then rebooted PC again & went to bios.
    4. Changed the bios settings as follows:

Limit CPUID Max. to 3.....................: [Disabled]
    No-Execute Memory Protect............: [Enabled]
    CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E)................: [Disabled]
CPU Thermal Monitor 2(TM2) ...........: [Enabled]
    CPU multithreading............................[Enabled]
    CPU EIST Function.........................: [Disabled]

    In Power management:

HPET support.......................[Disabled] (had read a guy's review that his S3G board overclocked after disabling this & two Wake Up... settings)

    Integrated Peripherals:
    Legacy USB Storage.............[Disabled]

    5. Saved above settings, rebooted PC & went to bios again & did CTRL + F1.

    6. Changed the M.I.T settings as shown below:

    Robust Graphics Booster___________ [Auto]
    CPU Clock Ratio ____________ [12]
    CPU Host Clock Control_ [Enabled]
    CPU Host Frequency (MHz)__________ [240]
    (CPU speed around 2.88Ghz)

    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [100]

    System Memory Multiplier (SPD)____ [3.33]
    (DRAM value was exactly 800MHz)

    DRAM Timing Selectable____SPD __ [Manual]

    Performance Enhance = [Standard]

    CAS Latency Time________________ 4/5
    Dram RAS# to CAS# Delay_________ 4/5
    Dram RAS# Precharge Delay_______4/5
    Precharge Delay (tRAS)__________ 12/15

ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD)_________ 3-4
Rank Write to READ Delay________ 3-6
    Write to Precharge Delay_________ 4-6
    Refresh to ACT Delay______________ 40
    Read to Precharge Delay__________ 3-5
    Static tRead Value_______________ 7-12
    Static tRead Phase Adjust________ [Auto]

    System Voltage Control____ [Manual]

    DDR2 OverVoltage Control__ [+0.2V]
    PCI-E OverVoltage Control_ [Auto]
    FSB OverVoltage Control___ [+0.1V]
    (G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.1V]
    CPU Voltage Control_______ [1.356250V]

    7. Rebooted PC, graphic card screen appeared, PC shut itself down,
rebooted, M.I.T seetings were reset to their default values except for
    the System Voltage Control settings.

    So, no overclock again

If this does not help you may need to reseat the CPU, or you could maybe have a damaged board. Your CPU should for sure hit 2.8!

Rank Write to READ Delay________ 6
    Write to Precharge Delay_________ 8
    Refresh to ACT Delay______________ 42
    Read to Precharge Delay__________ 6

Ok i will try to reseat the CPU later but what I want to ask is that even if I change the PCI expresss Frequency from Auto to 100MHz without altering any other setting in M.I.T, the bios resets it to Auto. Why ? Could it be that the PSU is the main culprit ? I should better check which PSU I am using.

1 more thing. I just installed EasyTune 5 & it says that PCI frequency is 33. Is this normal ?

Sounds like you do not have avoltage set properly, since Auto is 100 that should be fine. Unless you have a overclock set that is not stable. Then it may fail.

Easytune setting you are mentioning is PCI Freq, not PCI Express Freq, which are 2 different buses and that one should always be 33 and you cannot change it. So yes that is normal for sure

    PCI = 33
    PCI Express = 100-110

Ok..gues wat, I finally got it overclocked. I had to q-flash my bios with F3a version as many users have reported that they had overclocked their S3G boards with this version. Hers's the screenshot:

Thanks for the stickies, LSD. After using MemSet to derive my AUTO settings, I'm able to run faster memory, which now passes MemTest86+ without adding any more volts. 1M SuperPI improved from 19.8s to 19.7s.

edit: The system performs better after adding some juice to the MCH, and 1M SuperPI has improved again (sporadically) from 19.7s to 19.6s. Also, 3DMark01 has improved overall from 25.2k to 25.5k.

I have the same problem and know that it has to do with the Geforce 9600GT-series. If you pair that card with the GA-P35-S3G no overclocking is possible on that boards, regardless which BIOS-version.

I've discussed this same issues on a German Gigabyte forum and contacted Gigabyte and told them explicitly that this problem occurs only if you use a Geforce 9600 GT but those specialists at Gigabyte fobbed me off and basically told me that since this issue is related with the 9600GT-cards, it's none of their business.

I believe that if they at Gigabyte wanted to, they could release a new BIOS for the GA-P35-S3G that fixes the impossibility of overclocking the board, when using a 9600GT.

Anybody ready to contact them again and have the say?
