    A heads up

Bumpimg up 2-3 year old threads isnt good in general.
If people have some concerns on particular items they can start their own thread and check for responses.
    Personally
I have quite a few items of interest. but everyone wont be interested in older mbrds
    and opinions on same.
fans will operate from 5-12v ,most of them anyway
There are lots of articles on doing that .
The practice of using 5-7v to power fans has pretty much died out with psu changes.
Most cpu fans now will vary speed over a very wide range.
sys fan headers , some of them are max speed , some of them are now locked on specific temp sensors
depending on mbrd sys_1,sys_2 , cpu
    and so on.
Some boards dont have a direct nb readout of temp and use a system sensor some have both etc.

I do not care of what some people will think , I am working on solving problems .

If PWM technology dies , the usability of this thread it will die with it.

Is the PWM still alive ? Yes it is ....

if you have a general theory on gigabyte related hardware you think forum readers might be interested in ,post it.

If you find an old post relevant and helpfull to your hardware great.
If you have some information that might be of use to someone seeking help on older or newer hardware thats good too.

Bumping older threads to express opinions or links or continuosly replying to your own without input from others just spams things up.
Were all interested in posters progress with new hardware,up to a point or if we were all running for example p35 gigabyte boards, but were not.

By all means go head and do a post entitled "My theories on fans and voltages and pwm and I was inspired to post it by reading this (link). If there is some interest people will reply.

Bump spamming up 2 year old threads is bad news tho

GIGABYTE needs no introduction but they are here to provide free technical support for their motherboards, graphics cards and other products!

If any one is here , I need the Fan header specs ... Official reply .

You'll probably need to contact GB Tech Support directly with your query.
This is not an official GB tech site, but we do have some forum members with excellent people/source contacts.

Given the highly technical nature of the fan header specs, I think that creating a new thread with an appropriate tech title would be best.
Including such super tekky terms like "Ohms" might be enough to scare away some from the thread. ;)

No problem, let's not make a mountain out of a mole hill.
I can't wait to find out if I can safely run 10 amps worth of fans from EACH of my fan headers. (ooooh!!)

10 amps from one header .... you should just wait a bit , for the Ultra durable motherboards Version 8

The " mole Hill" made me, like any non native English speaking person , to Google it ...

Today I will take my system apart , to add some 120mm side fans and filters.
And so I will photograph the transistors that powers those headers, and hopefully I will find from their codes , the electrical specs.

Even so, I must to admit that by operating my large fan with the PWM converter ( that adds some extra load in mA ) like in a total of all most 600 mA for 30-40 seconds full speed , with out to damage the motherboard header ...

Its an amazing proof that this motherboard , it does have something Durable in it ..

Most of the times those labels stands just as an marketing trick ( Just to boost sales ).

And I have see an significant number of motherboards of other brands, to get damaged , even with the half load, of the 600mA .

A quick check for Fan Controller on Newegg shows several multi-channel (3 - 6 channels) units that provide 10 - 30 watts per fan channel.

My Zalman ZM-MFC2 fan controller has 4 separate fan channels, displays fan speeds, has 4 accurate temperature probes, and displays total system wattage draw. The display is a bit hard to read. A better solution for about $50 - $60 might be one of the NZXT fan controllers. There are several fan controllers that support up to 6 fan channels. The controllers that don't have fancy LED panel displays cost less.

On my setup, I modified several fan Y-cables so that I can connect the yellow fan-speed sense wire for each fan channel to the motherboard fan header so that software can display the fan speeds.

My preference is for front panel fan controllers with manual adjustments.
Some controllers have a very limited adjustable voltage range. Check the specs before you buy.
