What are you trying to run at? I mean not now, but what you want to end up at? I can post you a full table of suggested settings for any Speed if you want.

If you do, then you will have to wait until tonight when I get back. That will give you time to read some more, and post back what your plans are.

Ill see ya later tonight, good luck with everything until then

hm ok so heres what i would like to achieve[keep in mind i have a samuruai Z cpu cooler-not the best i know and NO cooler on the MCH ]
so i want to have a mild overclock that would keep me around 60-65 on prime95 and while playing games.some overclock that guarantees stability and will not shorten the life expectancy of my pc overall.

thats why i was trying for something in the range of 2.8-3.0ghz[so an overclock of 0.2-0.4ghz with an fsb of 350-400[ i have been trying at 350x8 for 2.8hgz so far]

i think such a mild overclock is sufficient for me given the fact that i dont have the uber equipment to OC higher and most of all i have limited knowledge with OCing

btw:your REALLY helpfull[i am amazed indeed] and i dont mind w8ing untill u have the time to suggest some settings,i am a patient man and not in rush:)

    thx a lot!

Ok, Here is some settings for 2.8, 3.0 and 3.2 >>>

First 2 (3.2Ghz & 3.0Ghz) will be posted with 400 FSB and 1:1 on your ram which would be best.

There will be ranges for advanced timings, set to the highest and work your way backwards one move at a time testing between each move

    Q9450 @ 3.2Ghz With 2x2GB 6400 ram at 1:1 800Mhz (Watch the CPU Mutli's)

    Robust Graphics Booster___________ [Auto]
    CPU Clock Ratio ____________ [8]
    Fine Clock Ratio _____________[0.0]
    CPU Host Clock Control_ [Enabled]
    CPU Host Frequency (MHz)__________ [400]
    PCI Express Frequency (Mhz)_______ [100]
    C.I.A. 2__________________________ [Disabled]
    System Memory Multiplier (SPD)____ [2.00]
DRAM Timing Selectable_______ SPD __ [Manual]

    Performance Enhance = [Standard]

    CAS Latency Time________________5
    Dram RAS# to CAS# Delay_________5
    Dram RAS# Precharge Delay_______5
    Precharge Delay (tRAS)__________ 15/18

ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD)_________ 3-4
Rank Write to READ Delay________ 3-6 (May be better at 9-11)
    Write to Precharge Delay_________4-6
Refresh to ACT Delay______________48-50 << Tweaked (52-62 for stability)
    Read to Precharge Delay__________ 3-6
Static tRead Value_______________ (6 Try last or first, may not work) 7-10
Static tRead Phase Adjust________ [Auto] << always leave on Auto

    System Voltage Control____ [Manual]
DDR2 OverVoltage Control__ [+0.300V] = 2.1V << Set to spec on your sticker, then you can try lowering later. +0.1 = 1.9V and so on

    PCI-E OverVoltage Control_ [+0.1V]
FSB OverVoltage Control___ [+0.1V] << For stability, can lower or set to Auto later
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.1V - +0.15 - +0.2] <<< Needed for 2x2GB. 0.15 will likely be fine, but only tests will let you know. And yes +0.1 may work but not too likely

CPU Voltage Control_______ [1.30 +/-] <<< This is all up to you and your chip/board. Best to set high enough that you KNOW it will boot, then lower later once you get into windows and see how it runs. You may need more like 1.325 or less then 1.3, only your chip can let you know. Keep a eye on Core Temps and you will be fine. Setting to stock or just above stock may even get you in at 3.2

    OK
so i tried ur 3.0Ghz at 800mhz [1:1] and still couldnt boot into windows.i played with the values a bit too.i am almost certain i didnt do anything wrong[i hope ;p]
but 1 think i noticed is that u wrote down: Refresh to ACT Delay______________48-50 << Tweaked (52-62 for stability)

the thing is , that on my BIOS it is set to 42 and i increase it to 52.but the values are 42 [52] .in brackets its the 1 i changed. i cannot change the 42 value[maybe its the mobo or just me that sucks]

    cheers

maybe my mobo aint that good for OCing..dunno..i have read about so many ppl OCing just by increasing their multiplier and leaving the rest to auto.
on mine i even tried just fine clock ratio to 0.5[gave 2.8ghz] and still couldnt boot..

42 will stay there on the left, it is from when you used 2x1 or just a random setting used by Auto before. What you need to worry about it what you set on the right, and you need at least 52-62 for 2x2GB, I would set 62 for now to be sure, then lower later once you get going

Please post back the full table with exact settings you used. If you used all the highest I have written for memory, then you likely need more CPU voltage

    K I will be around!

Good luck, and dont let it frustrate you Keep a stable Profile in the BIOS you can use anytime. F11 on the MAIN page is save, F12 is load

i couldnt boot into windows.i than increased cpu voltage to 1.32 and even up to 1.35 but it didnt help
also tweaked the DRAM timings to ur max given on another attempt

I saw that you are using a beta BIOS (F3b), update it to F3 or even the new F4a. I am using this last one and gained more stability.
This motherboard we have is very friendly, so it a matter of patience to have it in OC.
BTW, please follow those great guidelines posted by Lsdmeasap about updating any BIOS - do not do that under any OS.
