What BIOS settings are you using? 2x2 ram need some manual adjustments for sure, just to run stable without a overclock.

Incorrect settings will make you triple boot, which is what you are describing

Please post back what you are using And I will advise

3 cards, 2 RMA'd? WHY? I love sapphire, what happened to them?

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

I'm still thinking about the boot up problem, I'll get back to you on that :-) It could be connected with your performance issues though.

As for Crysis, it's a terrible game for loading up any current system. It might be an idea if you have 3dmark 2005, 2006 or purchase Vantage (Vista Only), so scores can be compared.

I take it you are using the latest ATI drivers and you have tried a few recent releases too.
    Have you patched Crysis?

Also have you downloaded the latest standalone DirectX update?
    August 2008 here: (80MB)

Download details: DirectX Redist (August 2008)

You most probably can get a smaller update from WindowsUpdate, although it might not be as new as this standalone release.

Edit: I see you mention 3dmark, but what version and is that at the default setting?

I got a 4870, 1680x1050, and crysis is not what I call "playable" on Very high settings. The game heavily favors Nvidia, so I'm not surprised. High setting is perfectly fine though.

    I'm using a E8400 overclocked to 400x9

Those are actually fine results for an HD 4870. 12000 on 3d06 is actually a good score as well.

set your BIOS up like LSD said, but, really if you've got the res at 1650x1080 you cant really expect much at very high settings in Crysis. You'll get better results if you use high settings and DX9 mode and... you should get at least 65 frames with an OC'd 4870. You might be able to get 35 fps at 1280x800 in very high, but you can hardly get playable rates in Crysis on very high without a 4870X2 or an OC'd GTX 280

I don't think there's any issue here. He's trying to run Crysis at a high res with dx10 and a Radeon 4870. Not gonna happen.

Well it may be a little better if he sets his ram so it is not in Auto and running some silly trd setting, but ya I think you are right.

I just commented then because he said he tried what I suggested with no luck, and I did not make a suggestion. So I thought I better point that out to him
