Thread: My fastest overclock yet....

  1. Default Re: My fastest overclock yet....

In regard to overclocking the FSB I meant to ask how fast can it be going before it starts to melt.
GA P35 DQ6 rev. 1.0, 2x2GB Mushkin XP2 Ascents, 2x2GB Mushkin XP2's DDR2-1066 PC2-8500, Intel Core 2 DUO E8600, 3.33Ghz with Gigabyte CPU Cooler, PNY GeForce 8800 GTS, Antec 900 Gaming Case and Antec True Power Trio 650w PSU, Hauppauge HVR 1600 TV Tuner, old Sony CD/RW that still kicks butt, Sony external DVD, Smart Card Reader, 4 Western Digital Caviar HDD's: 80Gb, 120Gb(usb,external, swap), 160Gb, 250Gb and 320Gb.

Running it all with Windows XP Pro SP3, Perry Mason and Della Street. Paul Drake's out on assignment. He's helping me locate 64-bit drivers for XP Pro x64 Edition that I'm working with now.

If it was set at 6, then that is probably why you had to clear the CMOS

Voltages the same for 3.17 and 3.8 is also a HUGE problem, that for sure wont work! You will need far more voltage for 3.8 to be usable, let alone stable.

I think 3.6 is a good place for your CPU to run at, if you can get it stable there

As for 533 FSB, it is all up to your chip how far you can take that. But you can use more then 1.45 set in the BIOS for a 65nm CPU as long as your temps are good.

Ya, I have had a few 65NM cpu's (6600 and 6750) up and over 533 FSB on P35 boards. Hold up a second And I will go set my CPU I am using now (E3110, Same as E8400 only Xeon) past that and post some screenshots for you

The board is a factor in how high a FSB you can use, but not as much as the CPU itself and heat
