Default S3 Sleep Problem With My P35 Board

I spoke about this in response to another thread and Lsdmeasap suggested I start a new one. So herin is the problem as previously described - but with further info.

S3 sleep mode will not work on my GA-P35-DS4 board. Entering S3 sleep seems to go OK. When resuming, the computer starts (fans & hard drives spin up) but my monitor stays black. I have to hit the power button to turn it off (reset button will not work at this point). On restart the computer will cycle itself on and off constantly until I pull the power plug. After that it will do a normal boot.

I have tried BIOS f7, f10, f11, f12, f13, and f14 beta, plus every settings change and tweak I've read on this forum & on the net - all with no luck.

I did notice one thing that may give a hint. After my computer powers down into sleep it seems that all power is cut off. On my old Asus board (where S3 worked flawlessly) when it powered down the power LED would flash - on the P35 it does not.

My system has never been overclocked and is very stable. The BIOS has "Optimized Defaults" loaded with the following changes:

Advanced BIOS - CIE & EIST are disabled. Init Display First is PEG, Full Screen Logo is disabled.

Advanced Chipset Features - CAS - 5 (manual)
Dram RAS to Cas Delay - 5 (manual)
Dram RAS Precharge - 5 (manual)
    Precharge Delay(tRAS) - 15 (manual
These are my RAM settings - per Corsair). All other settings are on "Auto"

MB Intelligent Tweaker - DDR2 Voltage Control set to Manual, DDR2 Overvoltage Control set to +0.40V per Corsair instructions.

Even if all the above settings are changed back to the original Optimized settings I still have the problem.

Please post also your Full settings you are using below. If you do have 2x2 or more of ram, that would be why Auto or optimized defaults would fail anyway. They are set for most any 2x1 to get started and be able to get into the BIOS and change things is all.

1 Memtest Pass is not enough for sure. Try 6-8 hours while you sleep. But all those Auto values and Turbo is likely your issue for your Sleep problems.

You still did not post the specs of your ram, a link would be best. I cannot advise proper memory timings without knowing the ram, so please post a link then I can further advise you.

    System Voltage Control____Manual____ [Manual]
DDR2 OverVoltage Control___+0.40V______ [+0.300V] +.3 is 2.1V just so you know, you confuse me since you have both here. Also, 2.2V is not likely needed and may be your issue. 2.2 is hot and I suggest to never run 2.2 without a fan directly on the ram. If your ram sticker says 2.2 it is the warrantied amount, not what is necessarily needed at all. 2.1 is generally good

thanks Lsdmeasap but no go. I tried the settings and it did not help. Any other suggestions?

As noted earlier, on my other system where sleep worked perfectly the power LED would flash on and off while it was in sleep mode. This (P35) board does not do that. There is no indication of power while in sleep. Could this be a clue - or is this a normal function of Gigabyte boards?

Hmm You do have S3 sleep set in the BIOS Power page Right? You are choosing Sleep in vista and not hibernate right?

NO, LED should only flash in S1 Sleep (Hibernate)

Please open a Elevated Command Prompt (Windows Key + R and type CMD in the run box) and type the following and post me a screenshot please >>>
    Code:
    powercfg -a
Also post a screenshot of this commands results >>
    Code:
    powercfg -devicequery wake_armed
