    Default GA-EP45T-DS3R CPU Support

    Hi,

I've ordered and I'm waiting on a new GA-EP45T-DS3R mobo and a Core 2 Quad Q9400 CPU. The CPU support page for this board says "supported from bios F3".

From what I've been reading in the last week, most people are saying that the CPU should work but not be recognized correctly, and that I'll just need to update the BIOS. Others are saying the CPU won't work at all until I reach that BIOS version. Is there any definite answer?

    Gigabyte GA-EP45T-DS3R (rev 1.0)

    Cheers,
    bhaz.

Most of the time it will work just fine to get in there and Flash your BIOS if need be. But sometimes not.

So both people are correct, it is just really a gamble. Most likely you will be fine, alot of people have had this worry with 45nm CPU's this year and I Have only saw one CPU/BIOS combo that did not work until the user had the exact one. I think it was a E5200 or 5400 not sure.

But the ones who did get a older BIOS and had to use their New CPU to flash they were fine, sometimes even a Few versions behind

So if you have a older 775 CPU keep it handy just incase, but like I said you are pretty likely going to be fine. I'd say 95% chance old BIOS or not you will get started.

BIOS tips and how to flash, Please read even if you know about flashing. There is a warning about a few things you need to see and keep in mind with a Gigabyte board >>>

OK cheers. Hopefully everything will go well since I don't really have access to another 775. The motherboard seems to support a whole bunch of other 45nm's using BIOS F1 so maybe I'm just bein' a bit paranoid.

Ya, it will probably work. But flash to the latest soon as you can.

Good luck, I know the feeling. Waiting to find out is the hardest part

I have that board with a Q9450 it booted fine with the preloaded BIOS but to make sure I updated and am now running the F3 BIOS.
    Hope all works for you.
The only problem I have is I can't see the Enable Multi-Threading line in this Bios?

What was the default BIOS you got shipped the board with, or did you check?

Have you tried the Control + F1 hotkey on the MAIN Page of the BIOS, then go into Advanced BIOS settings page to see if it is shown?

When you flashed, did you load optimized defaults, save and apply/reboot after the flash? If not you MUST Do this.

Thank you for the reply, sorry about not getting back sooner was in Hosp. (back surgery) That thing about loading the Bios and then Optimized and save I did not do. Can I do it now with reloading the same Bios. Yes I tried all the Ctrl-F*'s they didn't work.
Default it shipped with was F1.
