    Ya, you must manually set the ram speed is all is why you likely see 667.

    Ya, Some older BIOS will support unlisted CPU's but best to update to at least the one marked as tested to work fully and properly for your CPU. So F6+ >>>

    When I reloaded windows to get the RAID array up and running (see my other post) I noticed the power light was flashing slowly as before during the loading process - so it couldn't be the power saver device. Still not sure what is doing that but it seems to be working fine now. Thanks for the tips on OC ing - I will try that out after it burns in some and I get some more software loaded.

    Ok, I tried these settings - saved and it turned off - on - off - on then completed a boot up - not sure why it turned it self off twice?

    Anyway, it idles around 38c, and loaded (4x scientific calcs running 9999999 n! all CPUs 100%) it leveled out about 51c average with a range of + or minus 1 degree on the 4 cores. System temp is 42c. I don't have a temp monitor for the MCH. From what I can tell it runs smooth here with the settings provded with the ones you suggested as a range set to the high end of the range, at least during my math test - haven't tried anything else.

    Think I can go up to 10x multiplier without too much heat? CPU volstage is 1.296v, DDR2 is 2.0v. Or should I do more stability testing? Suggestions on how?

    Should I have something to monitor the MCH temp? If so what do you suggest?

    Also, how do I save my Bios settings as a backup incase I have a failed over clock in the future?

    Double reboot means it just had to shut down twice to make certain changes, kinda like windows vista updates restarts your system a few times to install updates sometimes. Some BIOS changes such as Static tRead or MCH latch, or CAS timings will need this double reboot. A triple reboot means things were not correct, and you would see a Warning about that when you next enter the BIOS.

    EasyTune will show you the System/MCH/NB temps as will Everest Ultimate

    F11 on the MAIN page of the BIOS is save, and F12 is load. Be sure when you are saving that you do not overwrite a profile you dont mean to. You can save a few, so just be sure to arrow down past the first one if you want to save several

    Yes you can use 10 multi, but you may need to changes some voltages, but maybe not. If it fails then try a higher voltage

    To tests Stability, you first need to be sure your ram settings and Voltages (DDR and MCH) are stable. I suggest you run memtest86+ for 6-8 hours if it passes then you can test your CPU and ram together with the below apps >>>

    To test CPU and ram, I use orthos >>>

    Saved the settings using F11 and tried going higher (10X) without voltage bumped and it crashed. Went ahead and reloade what I saved and ran Sandra lite and found this new set up was slower than the no OC'd set up significantly on multi media and math. Running my video editting software (Vegas Pro 8) it took about 40% longer to render the same file so for now I am back to the standard set up but with memory at 800. Any ideas why the OC would slow it down so much? The non overclocked version ran 5 hours on Orthos with no problem - haven't run Memtest - will let it run overnight and see what it shows.

    Loose ram timings/not tweaked will cause your overclock to be slower and or fail. Please post what failed for you and I will advise

    Well I went back to stock settings - set the ram to 800, and timings 4-4-4-12 and rebooted and all was fine. Set timing to 5-5-5-15, rebooted and fine. Set multiplier to 9X and FSB to 333 and memory to 333 with 2.4 Multiplier and it booted fine. Set the multiplier to 10 and it booted fine - running 3.33Ghz now and seems stable - Ran Orthos on the 9x multiplier for 5 hours and it passed all the tests - Ran Orthos on the 10x multiplier and it failed in the second set of runs - then restarted and ran till I shut it down because the CPU temp with core temp monitor was 61-62 for the highest core. I'm guessing that Orthos quit because of Overtemp? All the voltages are on auto with the exception of memory which is at 1.96V

    I tried the CPU voltage out of Auto but it wouldn't boot but I may have been interpretting the settings incorrectly. They start at .5v and go up from there - was thinking that is how much voltage is added to what is on the screen only off by a factor of 10 and not what is used as an absolute voltage. Is that correct or is that the absolute voltage? bios F5. Is there something I can do to get the temperature down a few degrees at this clock speed by taking somthing out of auto? The 10x seemed like a big jump in temperature from my 9x set up which ran about 51 loaded.

    By the way, the OC runs much must faster - Vegas Pro 8 rendering time dropped by over 30%!

    No, Orthos will not quit because of temps. And those temps are ok. You need more vcore is why orthos failed for you ... If your ram is memtest stable at that speed

    No the CPU voltage is not like the others. You would need to set it to the actual Voltage you want.

    And if you are wanting lower temps you need to maybe turn your fan up or reseat the heatsink (Or make it tighter with a washer between the two peices) 3.4-3.6 gets pretty hot with a 6700 and needs alot of volts to do it.

    So you may be at your limit if you think that is too hot already

    Thanks, very helpful - what do you suggest for voltage to put in the Bios line item - if it's .6 lower than the input should I put in 1.43v?

    What do you think the upper limit I should run on this at 10x would be?

    I haven't run memtest yet - Can't figure out how to get Memtest to run on this - copied an ISO image to a floppy but it won't boot to this when I set floppy to first boot item - is there a difference between copying and burning the ISO image to the floppy? If so how do I burn it to the floppy?
