Question O/C'ing ECC Fully Buffered Mem

I was looking at memory @ Newegg & was wondering if "ECC" played a good , bad or no part when o/c'ing ? It sure costs more.

    That's good.

I was afraid that high price meant it played a "good" part re o/c !

No, it is Pricey because it is used in servers, the ECC is "Error Checking & Correcting" and one additional chip is needed for this process. It can help in servers alot where data integrity is critical, home users just do not need it.

Plus us overclockers tweak our ram to the best anyway, so you SHOULD not be getting errors that need corrected.... Right?

Yeah I knew it had something to do with error checking & servers but was not sure if any of the "error checking" had anything to do with o/c errors & that checking. That faq is short but sweet & to the point.

    I suppose we have our own "ECC" here @ T/T...Lsdmeasap = ECC ! :)
