Hey LSD found this on the net! Someone testing the exact ram modules which might give you a idea of what they can do.

I think we can do alot more with the ram.....

    Hi LSDMEPlease :-)

I am a bit of a noob on PC's. I had a Dimmension Dell (3.4ghz) off the shelf obviously, decided to upgrade and build a PC for myself. I have a setup almost identical to Dusty and have tried everything in this post from page 1 to 5 for 3 days. I still can not get a stable system, infact anything I have tried above 3.2GHz, fails totally... i.e. I can't even get to Windows.

I'm probably doing something fundamentally wrong, because I have read many posts where people are overclocking this setup easly to 3.6Ghz, my aim, or better.

Do you perhaps have some time to help me? If you do, I have taken the advise earlier in this post, gone to each possible screen, used F7, then copied the exact same settings in Dusty's last post. I also tried Dusty's settings, but using my memory settings.. but my system will simply not boot.. I try save the Bios setting and it simply fails to boot and reverts back the the last known "good/working" settings.

    Intel CORE 2 QUAD Q9550/2.83GHz/12MB CACHE/1333MHz FSB/LGA775
    GA-EP45-DS5 FSB1600MHz DDR2 1200
    Kingston DDR2 2048MB(2x1G)PC8500 1066Mhz HyperX --> (5-5-5-15 2.2V)
    4 x Seagate 80G RAID0
Zalman CNPS9500ALED (Copper) CPU Cooler for Intel
Nvidia - Albertron 8600GT -- from old system, everything else is new
    1010W PSU OCZ

Sorry forgot to mention, I only have 2GB memory compared to Dusty's 4GB. And I really am guessing around the memory settings... perhaps that's where I am going wrong..

    Cheers....

Are you stable at stock? That is where you need to start. The settings listed on this thread are for 2x2GB of ram so they likely would fail for you.

Try this for your setup for 3.4>>>>
    Code:
    MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.)
Robust Graphics Booster ...............: Auto or Fast
    CPU Clock Ratio ..........................: 8
    Fine CPU Clock Ratio.....................:.5
    CPU Frequency ...........................: 3417

    Clock Chip Control
    Standard Clock Control
    CPU Host Clock Control..................: [Enabled]
CPU Host Frequency (Mhz) ............: 402Mhz
PCI Express Frequency (Mhz) .........:Set to 100

    C.I.A.2 .................................:[Disabled]

    Advanced Clock Control [Press Enter]
    CPU Clock Drive...........................: <<<
    PCI Express Clock Drive.................: <<<
    CPU Clock Skew (ps)....................: <<<
    MCH Clock Skew (ps)...................: <<<

    DRAM Performance Control
    Performance Enhance...................: [STANDARD]
    Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.).....: Disabled
(G)MCH Frequency Latch...............: [Auto] or 400
System Memory Multiplier ..............: 2.66D (you may also try 333 above with 2.40B here for 964Mhz but it may not be as stable )

    Memory Frequency (Mhz) ..............: 1069Mhz
    DRAM Timing Selectable ................: [Manual]

    Standard Timing Control
    CAS Latency Time........................5
    tRCD .........................................5
    tRP'...........................................5
    tRAS..........................................15/18

Set all to highest below, then later lower one at a time testing with Memtest86+ as you go

    Advanced Timing Control
    tRRD...........................................3-5
tWTR..........................................3-6 (use 12 first, then go to lower range)
tWR............................................4-6 (use 14 first, then go to lower range)
tRFC...........................................52-62 (use 68, same as above)
    tRTP...........................................3-6
    Command Rate (CMD) ....................:2

    Driving Strength Profiles
Driving Strength ............................1066-1200, 1200 may be better to use

Maybe 1.3 or more actual, maybe not. Just set high for sure so you can boot, then later lower until it fails and then raise back up a few

    Hi LSD,

Well, I got a lot further with the above setting, thank you very much i.e. the system now boots all the way to the windows progress bar, then just before the “welcome” screen appears, I get the blue screen of death…(tried 3 times) memory I think. The screen disappears too quickly to read.

    I started as suggested, with:
    ######
    Advanced Timing Control
    tRRD...........................................5
    tWTR.......................................... 12 tWR............................................14
    tRFC...........................................68
    tRTP.......................................... 6
    Command Rate (CMD) ....................:2

    #######

I don’t know how to use Memtest86+ yet. I will read up on it tonight and try again. I assume from the screen shots on the web, it runs just after POST and will help me fine tune the above figures allowing me to get to windows/stable.

I also tried this last night, but with the same result:
    ########
    Advanced Timing Control
    tRRD...........................................5
    tWTR.......................................... 10
    tWR............................................12
    tRFC...........................................66
    tRTP.......................................... 6
    Command Rate (CMD) ....................:2

    Oh I forgot,

I left this stuff at the stock Standard, i.e. F7

    Advanced Clock Control [Press Enter]
    CPU Clock Drive...........................: <<<
    PCI Express Clock Drive.................: <<<
    CPU Clock Skew (ps)....................: <<<
    MCH Clock Skew (ps)...................: <<<

Damn I'm at work.. can't remember these, I will record them tonight and send through... should I be changing these before the memory test ?

Well, I need to know all your settings when you try and it fails before I can advise.

Memtest86+ is a ISO file and will be run by booting from CD. Here is how to burn a ISO >>>

Let us know how you do
