    Default EP45C-DS3R & RAM issue

i have this board for only a month, when i first bought this i already had this problem. the reason is to escape this problem to my old board EP35-DS3R w/c won't letting me boot on BIOS default setting, the issue refers to may RAM (OCZ PC2-8000 Platinum Edition) this RAM requires 2.1v, so my own solution is install first a RAM that has only 1.8v then boot to BIOS to manually change my VDIMM & +3 on it then save BIOS, after that shutdown my PC then replace this w/ this RAM & viola it'll boot.

as you can see it's too much laborius just only to boot on this RAM, so that's why i'm stuck only on default settings on my BIOS & it won't let me OC my system, because if i had wrong inputs on my BIOS "trial & error inputs" & will give 3times on/off BIOS Post i need to revert back again the 1.8v RAM just to boot it again, same way as the above i mentioned.

so this issue cause by the RAM or the board, because i already had this problem also on my old mobo.

    tnx!

well.. u have 4 or 2GB? becouse allmost 80% of the user with gigabyte based in P45 Chip, are having troubles with the rams (4gb) , and they RMA the motherboard

I use 4GB without issue. It is all in your settings, P45 has a MUCH more mature BIOS then P35, so many users are lost when it comes to getting things out of Auto (Which does not work well, let alone with 4GB)

Ram that requires 2.1 will boot at 1.8V so there is no need for you to be switching, all ram must boot at 1.8V because of the JEDEC standards. Did you never try it out or what?

Please post your full specs, And what you are trying to run your CPU at and I will post you some settings to help get you going

    tnx for the reply.

as i said my P35 & P45 has the same issue w/ this RAM i need to set manually first VDIMM to +3 w/ the RAM that has 1.8v then switch back again to my OCZ. i already try the default settings first when i bought the P45 but no luck, w/c i know same problem on my P35 before, so i did my "method" lol

    specs:
    EP45C-DS3R (F4)
    Q9450
    2x1gb PC2-8000 @ 1066 OCZ Platinum Edition 5-5-5-15
    GB-HD4850
    2x320gb Seagate in RAID0

all are these are in stock settings.

want to run at least 3ghz on air 24/7, happy on that! :D

tnx for the help and much appreciated :)

Ahh, well JEDEC should be taking them to court or something... It is a "Law" I think that all DDR2 should boot at 1.8V no matter what

Here, try these settings for 3.2Ghz
