    Default GA-P35-DS3L optimal settings

Hey i need a little help, im trying to get the best out of my computer without over clocking. My specs are.

GA-P35-DS3L - updated bios and drivers

MEM 1Gx2|CRUCIAL BL2KIT12864AA804 R <--- thats what it says on my receipt so google is telling me this is my memory
    Crucial Technology 2 GB PC2-6400 DDR2 RAM (BL2KIT12864AA80A)

    evga 8600GTS

    160 GB WD RE
    SATA Hard Drive
    3 GB/s, 16 MB Cache, 7200 RPM
    WD1600YS

    xp service pack 2

So i spoke to CRUCIAL tech support and asked them timing i should be running this ram, they told me 4-4-4-12 and voltage 2.2.
I set the 4-4-4-12 but 2.2 seems high from what ive been reading. What do u suggest i put the voltage too?

Next im also trying to get my bios in order i updated the bios.
I was just reading the sticky with all the bios settings but it looked like it was for overclocking, is there anything flowting around that will tell me what settings to use if im not over clocking?

Im new to this, any help that wont give me blue screens is appreciated.

While im here i might as well ask.

I just Recently reformatted my pc and and that same day when i finished installing the driver and played some games they ran as fast and resposonve as ever before .

But soon after the responsive was not there anymore.

So my question is there anything i can do to get my computer running like it was right after i reformatted and installed all the drivers? Kinda like when u go a lan center and everything u did to the computer is gone when your done using it. Anything along those lines?

Voltages shown on ram stickers and in product specs is only the warrantied voltage. Some boards will need it and some will not, you can try 2.0-2.1 and see if it is stable. 2.1 likely will be for sure, 2.0 is a 50/50 chance.

They are not for overclocking only, they are optimal ranges. You must set them all high, and then slowly lower one by one testing between each move for stability. Here would be the optimal ranges again for your ram.

Please post for me your CPU and fill this in with your BIOS settings you are using now and I will advise you >>>

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

When you said lower later one at a time testing with Memtest86+, do i lower them all 1 and then do a memtest or do i lower them individually. Im loweing one at time so far and waiting 20 mins for the mem test. Witch way is correct?

And you talk about benchmark, what program do you recommend?
Thanks for your help so far.

Well if you lower to many at once you wont know which are failing, so best to do only one or two maybe at a time. But yeah, testing for 20 or 30 minutes is good, but after you make many changes you should run some full tests for a few hours. Overnight when you get time to be sure

Hmm, well there are many benchmarks, Everest Ultimate, SiSandra, RightMark are some good memory ones.

Ok i lowered them like you said no errors, im at the lowest values, is that good?
Static tRead Value_______________ 6 (7-10) im not sure to keep this value at 7 or 6.

I ran and changed all these values while i had a DDR2 OverVoltage Control__ of +0.3V-2.1V.
Is that where i was suppose to keep this? Should i lower or keep this at 2.1v?

Sounds good, especially if you pas several hours of memtest86+.

Static tRead of 6 is best, but only if it is fully stable. It may be at 800Mhz, but not too much more.

2.1V is good, I would make sure all my other settings are fully stable, then you can try 2.0, but if it fails then just raise it back up to 2.05 or 2.1

Hey so im thinking about overclocking, i think i pretty much got my ram squared away, and has been running good so far. My DDR2 OverVoltage Control__ is at +0.2V-2.0. Is there anything else i can do to get more out of my system or am i just left with overclocking?
