Sounds like you are not using enough voltage maybe? And all ram settings on auto can also be a issue. Use all the highest ram settings I provided and that should help you rule out the memory as a issue, then you will know you just need more or less voltage somewhere.

If you still keep having issues post me the full settings you are trying that fail and I will advise.

A 6400 is FOR SURE not a better overclocker, even if you have a bad overclocking 8400 it will still be far better. You are just coming from a BIOS with very little options to a BIOS with Very MANY options that is the issue. You just need to learn how to use your BIOS then you will see your new board and CPU are FAR better then your old setup

OK - I need few days for testing. I have reached up to 3,8 (Vcore 1,5, and tested with Prime (max temp 65C) and Memtest without errors, however... I have random crashing while playing games :(

That is way high Vcore for a 8400 to only be at 3.8, you must be doing something wrong. Even a bad clocking chip would not need that for 3.8. Can you provide me with your exact full settings you are using for that 3.8 and I will advise back

Many thanks for your help. After few hour of testing with Prime95 and memtest 86 have no errors also in games ! I have decreased Memory frequency from 1020 to 850 Mhz and now... working well :D. In my opinion problem was in memory settings.
    My actual setting:

Do you want some suggestions now, as you can lower MANY of those settings if you plan to keep your ram at that speed.

You do have Driving strength profiles in your BIOS, I checked BIOS Version F9 just now and they are for sure included.

    They are located here >>>

I have just upgraded my bios version from F7 to F9 with "Driving Strength Profiles" option. Have tested both 800 and 1066 as "driving strengh" but with 3,8 Ghz no post :(

You need to post me your full settings you are trying so I can see what may be wrong and advise. And do keep in mind, what worked for you in F7 as far as voltages may or may not work in F9 and you may need more.

Are you sure your memory will do 850Mhz with 444-12 timings? Did it before, just checking as not all will.

Did you try 2.00B memory multi?

Try Less MCH Voltage (Like 1.2-1.24 and or 1.05) and also I hope this was a typo >>
    Termination…..... 1.200V*.......: 1,42-1.8 <<< ???

1.8 Termination? OUCH!! You should only need 1.25-1.5, more is not suggested.

So can you get 3.6 stable again? 3.8 may be asking to much out of your CPU to keep stable

Hi there and sort of apologies for opening this thread yet again ;)
I have been reading on these forums for a long time now but this is the first time that I actually registered and posted.

I recently thought of buying either an E8500 or just OCing the hell out of my E6400 first. I went for the latter. Now my system setup is the following (well for the bit that is interesting to OCing):

    EP45 DS3L rev1.0 F10 Bios, E6400, Geil DDR2 OCZ 800 (4x1GB), Noctua NH-U9B

I have read the beginning of this thread and tried the settings Lsdmeasap suggested. This worked fine in F5 my load temps were a bit high at 66 degrees at 1.40 VCore (all the other settings the same). My problem now is that I can't OC my PC at all anymore in F10 and am not sure what it is I am doing wrong or have been doing wrong.

I flashed the BIOS with QFlash (not @bios) and used the F10 supplied file. Then reset as the flash was done and loaded the failproof settings to go back to my FSB 267 Mhz, 2.13 Ghz and 800 Auto setting RAM. However, I would like to crank it back up to 3.2 GHz but the bios keeps giving me the warning continuous beeping if I put my settings to what they were before (at the beginning of this post).

Then I read that the settings for F5 are not necessarily the same as for F10 particularly with respect to voltage so I was wondering whether you had any more suggestions.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!
