Hi again, good morning and thanks for answering Lsd.

Here's the thing today. I swapped slots as Dweirdo suggested and run memtest all through the night again with both rams and with the bios settings i posted and i also used on the first try with memtest.
Memtest came clear with no errors after 23 passes.
So, does this mean that a ram slot on the board is faulty?
I guess it does, right. I feel stupid. I hate to jump to conclusions. There probably was nothing wrong with the ocz rams.
I should now test one by one the first two slots to figure out which one is faulty.

The bios i use is F3 and is the latest for this board.
Yes the ram voltage on the sticker is 1,5V.
No, i didn't save and apply after i flashed the bios and loaded optimized defaults. I thought that wasn't needed. My wrong. I will do what you say and see if the rest of the settings will appear in bios.

About the settings you suggested, are they to check if the system will be stable or are they optimized settings for the hardware configuration i have.
If the first, would it be much trouble for you to suggest me optimized settings in another post as i don't intend to return the board immediately if it proves its self to work stable with the second slots.
I will let you know how things turn out. I will try and install xp again and see if the same behavior remains.

Huge thanks to all of you. Talk to you soon.

hope you'll get it done! :P
yap try as well the other slots that haven't passed memtest, ony by one, and if it comes clear, it doesnt say that the slots are OK, you should try them in dual channel again, aka both sticks inserted. :D

Well it could mean a faulty slot, or different slot adjustments are needed (Like Skew, Same/different trd, ect) but ya, most likely a faulty slot since the two futher from the NB work and the closer ones do not

YES, Optimized defaults MIST be applied and saved/rebooted after a flash. It even reminds you of this on the download pages. If you dont, the new BIOS settings/hidden settings will not be applied

The ranges I posted are loose (If you use highest) to get you going, and then can be lowered testing as you go. Optimized would mean different things to different people I suppose. If you use the highest timings or higher then I suggested that would be more stable, lower would increase performance/be less stable without proper testing if you lower to far. I cannot say a exact set to be optimal without having the board/cpu/ram myself and test as I go

But yes, as said above. If you think slots 1+3 are bad and 2+4 are good then still please test the ram one by one as you may have a bad stick. And as he said, if you test both sticks and both are good then you could test each slot one by one to find the bad slot, and then decide if you want to RMA or not.

Hi and thanks again for your answer Lsd.
I fresh installed xp and all went smooth and programs as well install them self nice and without problems. The system seems too good to be true. I bought the parts almost a month ago and it's the first time that i have no freezes. I still have to check all the slots to see what exactly is going on but at least i can enjoy some time without the fear of the next freeze. Well it seems like it works good. I haven't really done anything else apart from installing programs!
I haven't even changed the bios settings .
Shame on me. I'll reboot right now and do that. See ya asap!

Hmm. I put all the values at their lower ends (not the lowest) and the system got into a restart loop. Wouldn't go past post screen. Had to clear cmos, load the profile i had made (see, i'm getting good at it ) and try higher values (not the highest), but still got into the same loop so eventually had to use the near highest of values that Lsd sugested and voila i'm back here. Any ideas?
What troubles me is that the values of optimized defaults seem to be lower than the ones i've set now. Why is that?

    hmhmhmhmhm....
could you please write the exact settings u've tried? im guessing you tried static tread 6, which made the boot loop and the need for cmos restart, but can u write them down?
im going to sleep right now, so try static tread at 10 and all others keep them tight, aka the lowest value u want(dont exaggerate xD).
and check if it goes, if it is, lower static to 9 and so on.

The three different values are the order i set them.
Oh, and orthos crashed after 15 min. ( i almost believed that i wouldn't experience another freeze) but the system works great as we speak.

Please post your full settings you are using that fail. Glad to see you are learning and getting somewhere though. From your orthos comment I think you need some voltage adjustments. What you should do before you even start orthos though is get memtest86+ stable then go at orthos

Hi again. Below are the settings that i'm using in bios right now.
Last night i run memtest to one stick in the first slot and this morning i checked it and it came clear with no errors after 33 passes.
Then i put it in the third slot and let memtest another 7 hours, until i got back from work, and guess what? It was clear too.
    I'm SOOO confused!
I know, now i have to do the same thing with the second stick, right?
    Anyway.
These values are also the ones that crashed orthos.
I have to leave now but i'll be back later at night.
I'm gonna start testing the second stick till i return.
By the way, orthos, in modern Greek language means correct or straight.
Thought you might like to know.

well you are using 333mch latch and 333mhz fsb, that may cause the instability , my friend once done that with his E5200, and i told him to increase or decrease it to 332 or 334 (the FSB) and he is all good now :D and every thing thanks to my guru, lsdmeasap.
