    Default GA-EP45T-DS3R Weirdest behavior

    Hi and greetings from Greece.
I have set up a new system including the following:

    Motherboard GA-EP45T-DS3R (BIOS F3)
    CPU E8400
    Graphics Sapphire Radeon HD 4670
    RAM 2x1 GB Geil 1333 timings 7-7-7-24
    PSU Corsair HX620 watt
HD Western Digital 250 GB sata
    DVD NEC sata

Now, i had problems right from the start. Initially i had OCZ RAM but memtest found errors in one of the modules and i replaced them. I thought my problems had gone but little did i know of things to come...

To start with, while installing OS xp pro sp3, process would hang while 'registering components'. (this would also happen with one of the OCZ modules that worked)
Did this three times and finally managed to finish installation. I'm not saying that this is a motherboard problem but i don't reject the possibility either.
Then, in windows, while installing programs (antivirus, .net, vga drivers etc) the system freezes. HD light goes off and nothing responds. Reset is the only option. While playing HiDef video the system freezes. HD light goes off and nothing responds. Reset is the only option. I thought that this is something related with the vga drivers but updated with the latest ones and still same behavior.
Anyway, after countless reboots and partially failed program installations i had the system running in a condition that i could describe as adequate but not fully functional. Installed DES also, fired it up and let the pc downloading torrents for 3 days and nights without problems.
Checked Gigabytes' site and found updated drivers (downloaded them).
Checked atis' site and found updated drivers (downloaded them).
In easytune utility, saw the RAM timings recommended 7-8-8-25. Changed them in bios, all well.
Now, i wasn't happy with the OS installation that i had running and i was willing to do it again now that i had the latest drivers and presumably the right RAM timings.
So, yesterday after i installed a program something went wrong and explorer.exe would start and stop all the time. The time was right for a fresh install.
Unfortunately, OS installation hanged again during 'registering components'.
Tried again and succeeded. Installed motherboard drivers, all well. This is it i thought. I made it. Started installing .net2 and once again system freezes. Reboot and then i saw the weirdest thing of all. A message saying that DES is turned off, i should turn it on, and press any key to continue.
Well, i had not installed DES. Checked in bios and when i tried to enter M.I.T settings i was greeted with this message saying that system failed booting due to overclock settings and that the values shown may not be the same as the ones that had been last set. I haven't overclocked the system or tried to.
Enter windows, 2nd attempt to install .net2 another glorious freeze.
Reboot, same message in post screen. Enter windows 3rd attempt to install .net2 successful. Install vga drivers, done. Install antivirus, freeze.
Flash bios with F3 (the same) trough Q-flash without DMI data enabled.
Load optimized defaults, enter windows, install antivirus, freeze!
Reboot, same message DES not running (what the hell it's not installed, bios flashed), enter windows install antivirus, freeze.
    I quit.
Rebooted and went to sleep. Got up this morning and the system was running well.
Now, tell me this isn't strange behavior. It seems like somethings wrong with the motherboard but i have absolutely no idea what to do. And before you ask me let me tell you that it's not the hard drive (checked), it's not the RAM (checked) and it's not the version of windows i have. Installed it in another system and ALL is fine.

The system freezes while installing programs. Now, what the hell does that mean. Also what is this about DES since it's not installed and the Bios flashed. And finally what is this about boot failure due to overclock settings?
Should i go back to F2 Bios?
What should i do? Can someone help me? Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

really odd, why wont u update bios to F6-7?
do u have another board u can test ur system on?

tbh, i had some freezes as well when i first got my pc but they gone away
did u run memtest after ur ram replaced?
    and u r 100% its not HDD?
what's left is only faulty board, did u purchase all of them on the same store?

Yes i run memetest as soon as i had the new Ram and the hd comes clean in every test i run on it. Seems like e have excluded everything and what is left is the mainboard. But it's hard to come to the conclusion that it's faulty and even harder to proove it. I think that there may be some issue with the bios settings. Are there any tests that i can run on the board to check stability?
Which one do you recomend? Any other trial and error procedure i can use?
    Thanks

Sounds like you have some very incorrect ram settings to me. And the red boot failure in the BIOS means the settings you last tried did not work or get set. Yes they may appear to be still the same, but they are not.

Yes, you can and should of course test first your ram. I do see you ran this, but for how long? >>>
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Let that run for several hours to check for stability and or errors.

Then as for the rest of the system if that passes I use Orthos >>>

Ok. Here's what i'll do. I will leave memtest to run from a bootable cd all through the night and i will write down the settings in the bios that you ask and tomorrow morning i'll post them to you along with the results of memtest.
Right now the bios has the optimized defaults loaded as i flashed the bios last night.
About orthos, how long should i let it run and in which test?
I'm running it right now as we speak.
And also in memtest which test should i run?
Anything else you think i should do?
Thanks for your interest. Much appreciated.

Orthos you run only if memtest86+ passes, otherwise it wont run long. I suggest 6-8 hours of orthos Blend and 24 to be sure of 100% stability

You can also try, if you have good cooling, intel burn test >>>
    http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/intel-burn-test-27994/

In memtest86+ let the full normal test run overnight. I use 2, 5, and 7 when tweaking ram timings, but do not let those run overnight as they may get very hot and burn your ram up.
