Your problem is that (as you said) you installed Windows in IDE/Legacy mode. If you swithc on RAID now the drive will run in AHCI mode, but you need other drivers for that which are usually installed during Windows installtion (if you have XP, Vista does it automatically). Now if you don't want to re-install Windows you need to install those drivers (IDE mode won't work anymore then, only AHCI!). Do a search here or google for a guide on how to do that on your motherboard and OS (you need to also do it with Vista).

Your board has the ICH9R which supports raid, I don't think that Adaptec will perform better than that.

Please try to write readable sentences, we're not getting paid to read your stuff after all. Putting some time into writing your posts so we can actually udnerstand what exactly is happening would be a good idea too.

Read around on the web on how to install AHCI drivers and which drivers are the correct ones. If it doesn't work it's probably because you did something wrong.

    Hi,

I'm running the X48-DS4 with the Q9650. I have my CPU overclocked to 3.8GHz at the moment (1.3VCore). But I notice that when I try to overclock any further, say up to 4GHz my CPU appears to need much more voltage 1.36 / 1.37 ish!

    Is this normal?
    • 3770k delid 4.7GHz
    • H100 4x NF-F12's
    • Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7 (Bios: F5)
    • Corsair Dominator GT 2x4GB @2134 9-11-10-27
    • 2x Asus HD7970 @ 1150/1600
    • OCZ RevoDrive X2 PCIe SSD 160GB (Boot)
    • 5.5TB HDD's
    • Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 1200w
    • Cooler Master Cosmos S - 2x Lamptron FC6 - 8x Noctua NF-F12's
