    Default GA-EP43-DS3 Rebooting Problem

    Hello,

I have just built a new PC and every time i turn it on it reboots. After reading through a few threads on this forum, this seems to be a common problem. Initially i was able to get Windows Vista installed, but i woke up the next morning to the PC automatically turning itself on and off. I have tested the ram and the ram is fine, so i think it is a motherboard problem. Here are my specs:

    Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3
    Intel e8400
    Kingston DDR2 2048mb(2x1g) PC 8500 1066mhz HyperX x2 =4g
    CoolerMaster Extreme 650w SLi Ready
    Asus ENGTX260

I am at work at the moment so i cant post up my bios settings, but i will do when i get home 2nite.

Thanks for any help in advance

4GB needs a few things manually set in the BIOS at the minimum, all set manually are recommended. So, I would assume that is all your issue is.

Tested the ram, what do you mean? What did you test with and for how long? Just by your comments I can assure you it is not fine, the settings anyway.

I advise this for ram testing (Must be this newest version for your board, older will not test correctly) >>>
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Anyway, however you tested it, if you are using Auto for all the settings I can assure you this will not be stable when using a system. Several things MUST be manually set for 4GB, especially 4x1GB

Once you get me your settings, I will advise. Please do also post a link to where you bought this ram so I can see warrantied voltages >>>

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

thanks for the quick reply, i tested the memory on another machine overnight with memtest, and it ran 27 times. btw i have just been using the "optimised defaults" so i guess that is the problem. I bought the ram with my whole pc from Online Computer Store - Umart onlineฎ Your one stop Computer Shop for computer parts, notebook and new system.

Looks good the way I gave you. You ram is rated 5-6-6-15 at 2.2v, but surely all that is not needed! I would keep using 555-15 or 18 and 2.1V as 2.2 is HOT

When you get time, just be sure you test with memtest86+ and lower those timings, as highest is for sure not the best performance, just wanted to get you going!

Glad to see you are all up and running smoothly now, let me know how your testings goes when you get time

    Hello,

I have also built a new PC.Everything is OK , for now , but i have a unusual problem. I can not figure how to build RAID for SATA hdd? I have only option for AHCI / DISABLE in BIOS (v 1.0).So i flash BIOS with f9 vers. Still no changes. No RAID and i need it for stripe. Is there any solution? Please , help me if you know how to make it well.

I also need help for best performance of my PC. I am not sure how to set BIOS for best results , so i ask for help once more!

    Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3
    Intel quad 6600
    Kingston DDR2 2+2g PC 6400 800 mhz cl6
    grafic card GEFORCE 8400 GS 256 MB DDR2 / 64 bit PCiE
    SATA HDD 2x640 g

I will use WINXP 32 bit

Thanks for any help and please forgive me my pur language. I am from CROATIA and i learn language on internet :-)

That board does not offer RAID of any type.

You need to buy a board with ICH10R on it not ICH10 like you have.

If you need settings for your setup, please make a thread and I will be glad to help, post your specs again so I can see them in the new thread as I will forget from here.

I say a new thread if you need help, so I can keep track of what you have tried and not confuse it with anyone else. And also incase you do wait and get a different board so you can use RAID

Hello, back again, it has been a while (i have been extremely busy) but i am still having the same problem, initially i used the settings you provided and they allowed me to boot up, but the next morning when i tryed to turn my PC on it takes a few reboots to get going. I will turn it on, it will reboot without bringing up bios screen, auto reboot will freeze on bios screen then auto third reboot will be fine, runs for hours under cod4 high graphics. So just wondering if you have any tips where i should be adjusting things, i will use the list u orginaly gave me and just edit a few minor inconsistencies on my end. :) Your help is appreciated :)

ps. my editing will be red

Please post that again with only your settings, you lost me with your red and white color comment

What you see on the left in the BIOS can be ignored, only the values no matter the color on the right are what matters

You may need at least 1.24-1.26 MCH
