Default X48T-DQ6 and a Q9550 overclocking help needed.

    Hello,
I'm trying to Oc my Q9550 and would like to reach 3.6-3.9 for a 24/7 oc.
    My Hardware:
    Q9550,
4dimms of OCZ 1333 platinium ram,
    X48T-DQ6,
    Scythe mugen,
    4870x2,
    Stacker 832 with 7 casefans,
    A samsung 1TB hd,
    a seagate 0.5tb hd,
    a 160GB raptor
and a casefan(60mm) taped between the top of my gpu's pcb and the top of the mugen so it blows on the northbridge.

    My problem:
I got the pc to run 3.4ghz on 1.28vcore, +.3v DDR3 +.2v NB and I took most of the other settings from the sticky guide(a very good guide imho)
My DDR3 ratio is 8:5 and timings are loose 8-7-7-24.
When I tried to up my speed to 425/412/420 FSB Prime constantly gives me errors after only a few seconds. Nomatter what settings I use.
These are the things i experimented with:
    NBvoltage till+.3, FSBvoltage +.2
Pci-e voltage +.1, a lower ram devider, taking 2 dimms out, Vcore till 1.4 (boots windows starting at 1.31), LLC on and off and auto.

I also have pictures of my last bios setting I tried this with.

Plaatjesupload.nl :: Gratis Plaatjes en Foto's Uploaden - Upload Plaatjes
    (it's a dutch site)

And somehow the setting that were 8hrs stable with prime 95 on 3.4ghz are now just as unstable as the rest. Although I have no problem internetting, or running a game.

And last but not least, i'm using the F5 bios.

Could someone give me a few pointers, problem solving ideas? I would really appreciate it.

Edit: I just now read that FSB overvoltage is actually VTT termination and the stock voltage is 1.1v hence I figure I can add up to .25-.3 . Could someone either confirm this or tell me it is wrong. It seems like something I don't want to find out the hard way :-)

Yes you are right about vtt, keep it under 1.4 for sure. You should only need 1.2-1.3 for under 500FSB.

NONE of those linked images work for me, looks like the site is having Mysql errors...... So can you please post for me what you are trying and I will advise back >>>

This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

Hello, apologies for the non working links, guess it expired or something. I'll use yer template.

There are also some secret configs when F1-ctrl is pressed involving percentages, have read on the interwobbernetz that quads like -3% and -3% best, haven't tried that yet.
Very intrested in what your take is on this, this has been my day job for 5 days now :-) and getting a bit fatigued by it
thank you for your help for starters

Maybe this will help. You may have to use a lower CPU multi to get where you want, so that you can use the 400/1600 MCH strap instead of the 333 strap, it may be too tight to run that speed on your ram

    Robust Graphics Booster___________ [Auto-fast]
    CPU Clock Ratio ____________ [8]
    Fine Clock Ratio ____________[0.5]
    CPU Host Clock Control_ [Enabled]
    CPU Host Frequency (MHz)__________ [425]

    Dram RAS# Precharge Delay_______ 6-8
Precharge Delay (tRAS)__________ tried 18-24 (tried 2 ratios 8:5 and the one below that)

^^ What is your ram supposed to be at 1333? It may be 777-20 or 999-24, let me know so I may better advise you. A link to it would be great

ACT to ACT Delay (tRRD)_________ 4-8
Rank Write to READ Delay________ 4-8
    Write to Precharge Delay_________ 10-18
    Refresh to ACT Delay______________ 65-80

    Command rate _________ [2T]

    CPU/PCIEX Clock Driving Control [800mV]
CPU Clock Skew Control [normal-50-150-100] I would say nothing for this overclock
GMCH Clock Skew Control [Normal-50-150-100] Maybe 100-150

    System Voltage Control____ [Manual]
DDR2 OverVoltage Control__ [+0.300V] What is your ram spec voltage? If it is 1.9 you will need to bump this one more until you get things sorted

    PCI-E OverVoltage Control_ [+0.1V-1.25]
    FSB OverVoltage Control___ [+0.1V-.2]
(G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.1V-.25] << May need 1.25-1.35 for 4 sticks at that speed

CPU Voltage Control_______ [1.28-1.4] with LLC on and off (How much drop do you have from what you set in the BIOS to what you get in windows at idle?)

I'll try what you suggest right away,
    These are my rams sticks
    OCZ Technology | Products | Memory | OCZ DDR3 PC3-10666 Platinum Edition

7-7-7-20, reviews say it goes crazy at 2.05V, and it's EVP certified till 1.95.
Have not tried voltages over 1.95.

K, Well just so you know +0.3 on the ram voltage is only 1.8V. But check your PC Health section to see exactly how much it is getting as sometimes it varies depending on the board and setting used

aye, the difference is about +0.03 so +.30=1.83 so i'll add another +.1 and see what happens.

Try less MCH and then if no joy, less Vcore/FSB. And trrd does not need to be 8, 6 would be fine at least stable enough for sure for testing

There is no 3.40 Memory Multiplier so hopefully that was a error, are you choosing a strap letter/symbol with it? If so try one without or one from a higher strap

aye, was talking about the 8:5 one, for osme reason i seem to remember the ratio's better in this format :-) and will try the suggestions.
