Thanks. I will have 2X2gb ram in a couple of days. I heard that Mushkin ram works really well on these boards, so I am taking the gamble on this ram:
    Newegg.com - mushkin XP ASCENT w/ eVCI technology 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

I will try your settings when I get it in the couple of days, and I may need further help. This is very kind of you.

    Regards,
    AB

Of course those are "Generalized" settings, please let me know for sure if you have 2x1 or 2x2 and link them if you can and I will help you more

If you do have 2x2 and those settings are failing for you, let me know exactly what full settings you are using and I will advise

Ahh ok. Ya Mushkin works great, but so does G.Skill too. So you may have the same issue until you get your settings right.

But the Mushkins likely will post at defaults, but it is best to set all things yourself

Got my new ram. I tried these setting. I can get one stick of 2gb to work in the yellow slot next to the CPU. Whenever I put in the other stick with it, it does not even get me to bios setup, it just continually reboots :

I can get it to work now with two sticks of 2gb each with each stick NEXT to each other. One in a yellow slot next to the CPU and the other in the other in the red slot next to it. CPU-Z says I have a dram frequency of 533.3 and the command rate is 2T. But SPD on CPU-Z only shows 2nd slot as filled.

Ahh, sorry you ordered new ram. Those were likely fine, you need to make some changes for sure manually to get 2x2 to work. G.Skill is fine with that board

Let me know when you get your new ram, but this is the changes you need for 2x2 >>>

BOLD items are what you have to change for 2x2 to work

    Code:

Well - I thought 2 sticks of 2gb would work next to each other, but it freezes up. So it looks like I have one stick of 2gb and that's it for now.

thought you needed to run the DDR2 ram in the same channel. Put them in the same color slots and see if you still have the problem.

No, you do not need to run single channel. try slots 1+3 and 2+4 and see if that makes a difference.

What settings (Full) are you applying before you put in the second stick?

1&2 slots does not work. 1&3 does not work. 2&4 does not work. Only one ram stick at a time works.

I will post all my bios setting later tonight or early tomorrow. I wish there was a template to start with!

    THANKS,
    AB

Here are all my bios F7 settings. I cannot get it to boot even into bios with two sticks of 2gb each in the slots (yes both same colored slots.) It does work with just one stick though and obviously just single channel with the one stick. THANKS FOR ANY HELP IN ADVANCE!

    On my GA-X48-DQ6:

    Cpu/pciex clock driving control ____800mV
Cpu clock skew control _____ NORMAL
Gmch clock skew control _____ [150ps]

    System Voltage Control____ [Manual]
    DDR2 OverVoltage Control__ [+0.3] = 2.1V
    PCI-E OverVoltage Control_ [+0.1V]
    FSB OverVoltage Control___ [+0.1V]
    (G)MCH OverVoltage Control [+0.2V]
    Loadline calibration ____[Auto]
    CPU Voltage Control_______ [1.300]
    Cpu normal vcore 1.2500V

That's with Corsair 2x2, but every component combination is a bit different.

If u are using Vista 64: HPET Mode (Note) [64-bit mode]

I had a lot of trouble with 2x1 Corsair Dominator, but ram voltage, MCH overvoltage, and looser ram timings got me out of reboot loop and then only booting on one stick.

Think u might have to not use spd

    Maybe check out http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/giga...92/index8.html
