    Default Newbie - Help In Overclocking Required

    Hi everyone, I have put together a nice system, and I need some help in overclocking it to its fullest. Here is my system spec's, and at the moment everything is set at default.

    Intel q6600 G0 CPU
    Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler
    Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6 Intel P45 Mobo
    4x1GB PC2-6400C4 Dual Channel Platinum Revision 2 XTC Series DDR2
    Gainward ATI Radeon HD 4870 "Golden Sample" 512MB GDDR5
    2x Samsung SpinPoint F1 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
    2x Pioneer DVR-215DBK 20x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer
    Corsair HX 620 PSU
    Generic Floppy Drive


    I have updated the Bios from the default of F5 to F9.

    Any help would be appreicated. TIA :)

    What ram speed would you like to try? Have you gotten stock stable with all manual settings? If not you should start there, and then save that as your stock/stable profile and then start to overclock. F11 is Save on the MAIN page of the BIOS and F12 is load, that way you can at anytime go back and load your stable profile if you do not have time to mess with your overclocking right then.

    For 4x1 ram you will need to Put Performance Enhance on Standard, set MCH Voltage to 1.2-1.3 and trfc to 52-62, and manually set your ram voltage to the spec on the sticker..... just for obvious main starter tips

    Ok will do. Am at work at the moment and will send the repsonse asap. I am not looking for too much of an OC. I think to reach 3Ghz on the CPU would be great.

    Thanks for those settings. I have have had a try and I did have to change the memory timmings back to the default ones of 5-5-5-15. I will have a play around and see if I can tighten them up a bit, and try for 4-5-5-13???

    Do you think I could possbile get a few more Mhz out of my proccessor now???

    Is your ram 444-12 by default on the sticker? Just wondering as I did look it up I think, but there were so many models without a link provided by you I was not sure of which specific sticks you had.

    Looks good though, did you tighten up the advanced timings any yet? You for sure can if you used all the highest I posted.

    Ya, you could get a little more likely, if your temps are still good at that voltage, which they should be. You would be safe up to 1.425-1.45 actual, or so anything above that and temps would likely for sure get to hot
