hey lsd sorry i haven't been near a computer for a little while..

yeah i have updated to the lastest bios f10 and i did "load optimized defaults"

as for the 1120 memory freq (i just set it to what you told me in your last suggested bios post)

MCH Clock Skew - i have tried [0] ...[100] and [250] as you have suggested

Drive Strength Profile of 1200 i have tried and no luck there

MCH voltage i've just set it to what you told me to....

i had sent an email to the Patriot Ram help desk
and they suggested that i set my dram voltage to 2.2 - 2.3v
    and this didn't work

they also wanted me to test the ram to see if any of the ram kits where broken

and i noticed something a bit weird.

i accidently had 2 sticks of 2gb each in slots 1 and 2 and they passed memtest at 1066
i tried the second kit of ram ... but in slots 1 and 3 like how your ment to install the ram as per the installation book.
and when the ram was in slots 1 and 3 memtest failed..
the same ram has passed memtest at 1066mhz in slot 1 and 2

i'm not sure if that helps you figure out the problem?

also i had the computer running stable with everything set to auto and ram at 800mhz with all 8gb

thanks again for your help.. i'm sorry i'm not so up to speed on bios settings but i think your really my last hope of getting this to work as my local store and the patriot help desk doesn't seem to have an idea...

*edit* I have just tried my ram in slots 1 and 3 running at 800mhz
and it looks like its going to pass memtest...

Just means errors in settings is why dual fails but single mode does not.

Sounds like 1120 is just to high for that ram is all. So use 2.00D for 940Mhz for now until you decide what to do.

There is many ways you could run your ram at 1066, but you would need to overclock or use a different CPU multi and higher FSB

Silly you, you are always bumping when you are bored!

    What's the methodology you use?
