    Default GA-EP45-DS3L keeps freezing

I need your help, this board keeps freezing when trying to do anything. This is a new build with these main components:
    - motherboard: GA-EP45-DS3L
    - CPU - E7200 Wolfdale 2.53GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core
    - memory: Corsair 2x2GB DDR2 800 PC2 6400

Initial issue is when I had both memory sticks installed, I could not even get into the BIOS, it would just freeze. So I removed one memory stick, and now I can get into the BIOS.

But, if I try to do anything, such as installing Windows XP, or run the memtest86+, it freezes during the process. It freezes at random times. It sometimes freezes in the BIOS screens as well.

I have read through a lot of these threads, and tried to apply the setting to see if that would help. But so far, nothing seems to work. At this point I can:
-try a different set of memory chips
    -try additional settings
-give up and send the motherboard back (don't really want to do this)

    Here are my settings:

Try this. Set these settings with one stick in if you have to, and then shut down and put in the second stick and see how she acts. I do see many settings that are incorect so I have no doubt you would have issues >>>

    MB Intelligent Tweaker(M.I.T.)

    Performance Enhance...................: [STANDARD]
    Extreme Memory Profile (X.M.P.).....: Disabled
    (G)MCH Frequency Latch...............: [333]
System Memory Multiplier ..............:[3.00A] Or 3.20B (For 850Mhz) << Set all voltages and ram timings to highest then save and apply and reboot back to the BIOS and then set this to whichever you choose. You can try them all at once, but sometimes this needs to be set with as little changes as possible

    Standard Timing Control
    CAS Latency Time........................5
    tRCD .........................................5

Set to all highest below and later tweak to lower settings one at a time testing with Memtest86+ as you go

    Advanced Timing Control [Press Enter]
    tRRD...........................................3-5
tWTR..........................................3-6 (May need 12 for first boot thru)

    tRTP...........................................3-6
    Command Rate (CMD) ....................:2

    Driving Strength Profiles
Driving Strength ............................800-1066 (often one higher then ram speed is better) If you do not see this you either need to update your BIOS (Suggested) and or you need to go onto the MAIN BIOS page and hit Control + F1 and the screen will flash then go back into MIT and see if you find this.

OK, so there is hope? I will try those settings tonight! (I was just about to buy different Corsair memory that was rated to work with this motherboard...)

I tried these settings and no luck. It still freezes after a minute or two. I also got 2 sticks of 1 GB memory, and no luck with them as well. I miss the good old days when you could just put in the memory with no tweeks. I guess I am going to have to RMA this and get another MB.... :(

Hey PedroPete3, I don't know if you are following my other thread, but try setting everything back to Auto and dropping your (G)MCH voltage from the default 1.10v to 1.05v. Amazingly, that seems to have done the trick for me, at least so far. Will be running tests overnight to see if it is truly stable.

Yes, please do try the above suggestion. Seems some boards or BIOS's may be already giving to much MCH at stock and not reflect the actual amount in the BIOS

Good news - I made the changes and it completed one cycle of the Windows Memory test (never got to far with this one before) I will run some follow-up tests let you know if it remains stable.
    Thanks all for your help!

Nice to hear! Please do use Memtest86+ 2.01 For memory testing, it is much better then vista's memory test >>>
Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Let us know how you get along, and if you need anymore help
