In BIOS a red square lists teh reason for failure as "The system has experienced boot failures because of overclocking or changes of voltage."

with cover on and 210 mm fan blowing directly over MOBO system temp dropped to 45 in about 1 minute

I tried changing the Driving strength to 1066 on both channels A and B then I bumped the MCH Core to 1.34 and I was able to load all the way to descktop with no obvious problem. I then went back and lowered teh MCH to 1.3 and was able to get to the descktop in Vista again.
Vista desktop in 65 seconds as opposed to 90 seconds with 2GB and bad timings.
So far so good....is there anything to worry about or to keep an eye on?

I am still a little lost on how to set up and run memtest, would like to do that and are there any recommended programs to keep an eye on my sytem temps and such...

Thanks for all the help too.

Please post your settings you are using now, sorry for the late comment I just now got around today

Use CoreTemp to watch your CPU Core temps >>>
    Core Temp

Ya, the red warning box when you enter the BIOS means the incorrect settings were applied and what you see is not being used. Just means wrong settings basically and stock settings will be used.

Memtes86+ If you have the bootable system files on there and the memtest file you do not need to set anything in the BIOS. Just press F12 at boot time to get to the boot menu and choose Hard drive or HDD and then on the next screen choose your USB Stick and dos will load then you will run this at the command promt >> mt201.exe

This is the ONLY memtest86+ file you need on the USB Stick, the USB Version (Just incase you had the wrong one above mentioned >>>
    http://www.memtest.org/download/2.01...+-2.01.exe.zip

Be sure Legacy USB Storage detect is Enabled in the BIOS and leave the USB Stick in when you reboot to start testing with memtest86+

You can read this whole thread for my testing methods and findings on creating a USB memtest >>>

Be sure you make note of the last two posts we discovered something that you may see and try to do, dont.

Currently about 50% of the time I get a BSOD at startup and about 25% of the time I shutdown I get a BSOD. Once in a great while I get bumped to desktop from Battlefield 2. A new thing I noticed is sometimes in videos it switches to slow motion then returns to normal speed…..
Lsdmeasap, I really appreciate the help and I would love to know what all these timings do, working on that. Is there a post that details the best course of action in tweaking or troubleshooting? For instance, should I play with the memory multiplier before I play with the drive strength? Also, any suggestions to correct my current issues? My plan now is to get my comp running smoothly then try to OC it just a little bit to teach myself how all these timings come into play…
    Thanks again

Do you use external USB devices? If not disable legacy USB storage detect.

As for what each setting is, have you read the memory sticky? Drive strength I am not sure about what it really does, but I do know one above ram speed is usually better but if you are close to the lower one the higher may not work

Memory multi only changes your Memory speed, self explanatory really. It is FSB (CPU Host Freq) x Memory Multi = Ram Freq

Are you using the newest BIOS?

    Try this >>>>
