    Default EP45-Extreme, Q6600, HyperX PC8500 help

    hello everyone, am new here, i really hope u can help me...so here is the story:

    i have a gigabyte ep45-extreme mobo, Q6600, used to have 4x1gb kingston value ram pc6400, anyhow, i went ahead and bought the hyperx pc8500 without knowing that it is pre configured to work at 800 unless overclocked, so i increased its multiplier, i set up timings, voltages..i did every combination i could think of, nothing worked, the system does boot up, in everest, the stress test of the cache is what fails, not the memory itself, that is what confuses me..i really need ur help guys, what am i doing wrong here??! do i have to increase the cpu fsb instead of the ram multiplier?? cause i dont want to oc my whole system, i dont have an after market fan...thanks in advance..

    Sorry for the late reply! I was out of town until tonight. Here please give me your settings you are using now and I will advise you what is best to use for that ram so you can get stable. And please do post me a link to where you bought your ram or a model # and how many sticks you have of what amount >>>>

    hello mate, thanks alot for replying the setting that i could run the pc stable with is defaults for ram, which in this case 800 mhz, i have 2x2 GB sticks, here is thier link on kingston website Kingston Technology Company - Kingston Memory Search - Search Results for: KHX8500AD2/2G , now i tried just upping the system memory multipler and the MCH latch with adjusting the ram voltage to either 1.9v or 2.0v and setting timings to 7-7-7-20, and still..the pc boots up, i run everest stress or hot cpu tester, memory tests ok at the begining but cache (chipset in hot cpu) fails within the first minute and either the program crashes or BSOD, so this is my stable configuration

    that is basically it, i could give u the ram subtimings when i reset, but they are left on auto, this is exactly what i tried and it all failed, in all cases cpu frequency was on default and i upped the multiplier to either 4.00A or 4.00C, timings, volt:

    1-tried increasing subtimings slightly by 1 value each
    2-increase MCH voltage gradually till i reached 1.3
    3-tried with MCH Latch on auto or on 266 (i still dont understand this)
    4-tried single and dual channel, also a single stick
    5-driving profile set to 1066
    6-Static tRead Value up to 10

    all other voltages were on auto, it is driving me insane since i sold my old ram and bought this for performance, so please advice me on what should i do since this SHOULD work on my system, my motherboard could take up to 1333 mhz with oc, i updated to the latest bios and i tried with the previous one too, so please tell me something to try...thank u so much

    forgot to add that i tried leavin everything on auto and increasing the cpu frequency with lowering the multiplier to automatically achieve ram oc, cpu was too hot to run for long but the period i tested in seemed ok...i dunno why..lol

    Please do use the latest BIOS, and did you/if not please load and apply optimized defaults after you flash, set your ram voltage and then save/apply/reboot BACK TO the BIOS. You must come back before you load windows as you will need to set your disk settings again. And yes, Loading optimized defaults is a MUST after you flash

    MCH latch is your Northbridge Speed/timings. Higher is more stable and lower is better/less stable. Each setting has it's own associated Memory multipliers as well.

    Too low static tread matched with other incorrect settings was likely your issue. This should get you booted in with all 4 sticks at 1066
