    Default GA-EP45-Extreme - 8GB G.Skill 1066 Issue

    So I've got a new GA-EP45-Extreme and 8GB (4x2GB) of F2-8500CL5D DDR2-1066.

    With default settings, I can get 1 stick to work at 1066
    With DRAM Voltage increased to 2.1v I can get 2 sticks in single channel mode to work at 1066

    The only way I've found to get all 8GB to work is to downclock the memory to 800mhz.

    I appologize in advance for being a complete n00b, but I guess everyone has to start somewhere.

    I did spend some time reading other posts and information on the board, but nothing quite worked, so I'm going to back to the baseline and see what kind of advice you folks can give me on getting all 8 gigs working at 1066.

    Please fill out the template below, and post your CPU as well so I can best advise you.

    First of all you should test Each stick one by one with Memtest86+ (Has to be newer 2.01 version). Test each one by itself and stock set speed, main timings manually set, Ram voltage set to spec. This way you are sure you did not get sent a faulty stick >>>

    8GB is going to need several things set properly to run right. I will tell you some general tips but best to get me your full settings so I can advise back. For 4-8GB you will need to set MCH Voltage to 1.25-1.35, Use the D (400/1600) strap on the memory Multiplier, Set static Tread Value to 10-12 for now, set TRFC to 80-85 for now, and manually set ram voltages to 2.1.

    This is Just a template I use to ask people their settings, pay no attention to the numbers in it, replace with yours

    I have an Intel E6600 2.4GHZ Processor.
    I tested each stick and I'm in good shape there.

    I have been experimenting with the settings you gave me trying to stay close to the outside of the ranges, but have not been able to get dual channel working at 1066. I can't even get to post, it just powers up, then a few seconds later shuts off, and starts into that cycle.

    I really appreciate your help and look forward to your feedback.

    I think there is a fairly recent post on here with a similiar problem, but with Geil 1066 DDR2 and 8GB. I think the poster learnt in the end that Geil didn't support full speed when 8GB was used.
    I've seen the same on many other forums too, with Corsair and OCZ. It might be a combination of the memory and the Mid classed boards.
    GA-P35C-DS3R Rev2.0 F11 bios, E8200 (@3.0Ghz), OCZ DDR3 PC3-10666 Reaper 4GB (@1200Mhz), Xonar D1, 8800GTS 512, Corsair HX520 (Single 12volt line, Max 40A), WDC 3200aaks/5000aaks in AHCI mode, Vista 64 Premium.

    I've spent quite a bit of time this even reading posts and educating myself so I'm not quite as big a n00b as when I posted the first time. While still not able to achieve 1066 speed with 8GB installed, I've been able to OC my E6600 to 3.5GHZ (Stable) and the memory to 934MHZ.

    Below is my udpated information. Any advice is very appreciated.

    Driving Strength ............................? << Why the ? Do you have the latest BIOS? If so, did you load optimized after you last flashed and save and apply? If not You MUST to properly flash. So please do so now, load optimized and set your ram voltages and save apply, reboot back to BIOS to set all other setting (You will have to set your disk settings again as well, so do not load windows before you do so). If you have done all that properly and still do not see this then please Press Control + F1 on the MAIN page of the BIOS, the screen will flash and then go back into MIT and see if you find this.

    1066 or 1200 would be best, I find one higher then ram speed works best for my tests but I have yet to test 8GB so you may only be able to use 1066

    Then 402 would be your needed FSB for 1069 ram speed, you will likely need to add more vcore of course. And when you set MCH latch please do set the ram multi again as it will be set back to Auto when you set MCH latch
