Right! I was talking to someone today and we wondered if ANYONE ever buys those? And if so, do they advance RMA for replacements! AHAHHA

I am pretty keen on getting 16GB working on my EP45-DQ6 as well - It will be running as a virtual server.

Has anyone out there done it yet? I was looking at these - OCZ Technology | Products | Memory | OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 "P45 Special" Platinum 8GB Edition - but I want to make sure it's going to work before I do it!

Does anyone know if they would be compatible?

    Fair enough.

I am not incredibly hardware saavy, so could anyone let me know whether you can usually just chuck 16GB of RAM and expect it to work straight away, or do you need to stuff around configuring advanced BIOS settings?

G.skill makes a 16Gb kit - seems this brand generally works on Gigabyte boards - don't know about this kit specifically though - I was waiting for the price to come down some before getting - right now at around $450. DDR2 should start getting less expensive soon now that the i7 is out which uses DDR3 only.

Or the prices will go up, since DDR2 demand will decrease, and only those who really need it will buy (and can thus easily be departed from their money).

But basically that is my plan too: wait in hope that suitable kits become available (here, if ever) and affordable.

I think I'm going to go out on the weekend and grab the OCZ 8GB kit (there's only one in stock anyway) and give it a go.

Theoretically, there's no reason why I wouldn't be able to go to the full 16GB with two of these kits though, right?

I mean, it's a P45 chipset, and the OCZ RAM is designed for P45 chipsets... Or is it not as simple as that?

Yes, anything 4-8GB and above you for SURE have to tweak the BIOS as Auto is not setup for those types of builds

I am pretty sure it would be ok, just would take a bit to tweak and get running

Hope it goes down - I haven't seen anything go up in price in the world of computers really as technology moves forward, have you?
